No TDEP in the avant-garde? For shame guys

And if only Primordial votes were all in one category, it could've got the 3rd spot in avant-garde or 4th in black metal. lol

Yeah. He's got the Reverend, Immolation, Cage, DsO... just like my list!

I've seen The Shadow Cabinet in a couple of lists. That's 2006, guys.

As with last year, the overall winner seems to be something of a surprise!

Helloween's Gambling with the devil was the ultimate kick ass album of the year and maybe even the best album during this century. Wasp's dominator was the big suprise of the year since i really did not except much of them anymore.

Gamma Ray used to deliver kick ass album, but the new album totally blows and not even the tons of maiden, priest and accept ripoffs could save this album. A completely dull and uninspired album with very weak vocals. Rhapsody made a sequel to their amazing Symphony of the enhanched land it was their worst album so far, the Gamma Ray sequel to their best album also became their worst. No more sequels please! Only great success story in musical sequels would be Meat loaf's bat out of hell trilogy.
Primal Fear was also a rather big disapointment, but did at least have some really kickass tunes on it like face the emptiness.

Whaaaaaaaa?

Also, when will the forum's top albums be posted?

Edit: Nevermind, I should've actually read the article. :P

I just noticed that Adam, Crims, Jeff, and I had Candlemass at number 8.

Great minds think alike! :dio:

Hmm, MetalPowerReviews indeed! :P

Nah, but some nice votes there, I'm surprised that Zad didn't
pick Primordial anywhere, figured it'd be right up your ally.

.:crast:.

(and because I can't stop myself: new Canopy stuff in 2008, we'll be on the list! :P)

Some choices I can get behind this year- the thrash list was awesome, for once (even if I'm very surprised that Agent Steele did so well, despite the album's goodness) and though Gambling With the Devil isn't my album of the year, its in my top 5 and is really a masterpiece- the best Helloween album since Keeper II by far. Also good to see Symphony X getting some respect for what I think is their best album- but Manticora needs more, and no thrash at all on the top 15 reader's choice? Sad- surely some people put Dekapitator down in their top 5, or Mekong Delta?

So, from what I have gathered two people have heard Dreamland's newest album. What a fucking shame. While veryone's bitching about Nocturnal Rites they do nothing to find bands that do it right.

Noc. Rts. album owned ass anyway if you like pop music and metal. Those of you who are too hardcore for melody need not even listen to it.

Sweet I have nothing in common with any reviewer here.

Nice format though.

I'm a little surprised United Abominations didn't get more recognition in this year's awards. Oh well....

Anyway, I must say. 2007 was probably THE year for metal bands to turn up the aggression in their music. Gambling With The Devil was probably the most aggressive and lyrically serious album Helloween ever put out (though not necessarily "darkest" as The Dark Ride was ultimately darker). Systematic Chaos was darker and more aggressive than probably anything else DT ever put out (even Train Of Thought). And so on.

I like pop metal. I listened to it, and it still was disappointing.
