It says first 20 applicants, so that means 20 CDs.

I think that since this is a promotional CD, Nightmare Records would not object if some of us ripped it to mp3s and shared it for the people who won't have the chance to get one of the CDs. So if we get a green light from Nightmare Records and there's some demand for the mp3s, we could easily arrange something for everybody.

Absolutely......this is why we did the giveaway in the first place. Lance asked me if I knew anyone (friends etc.) who would like a few extra copies of the CD sampler and I suggested to throw it open to the readers of MetalReviews.com. The whole idea is to spread the word about Nightmare bands and I'm sure that sharing with others would not only be O.K. but very much encouraged.

I was lucky enough to be #9. hellraiser_xes, I'm sure we'll be able to arrange getting you a copy of the sampler by some means. :dio:

Sweet, got in as #12. Funny as I'm usually late for stuff like this. Great that Lance approves about sharing this, I'd be happy to put it up if somebody else doesn't beat me to it.

This is probably the cheapest excuse for promotion I've ever seen. But, congrats to the winners anyway.

Most record companies mail out thousands of promotional discs by hundreds of bands.

They do......which ones? Most record companies have cut way back and don't give out shit anymore unless you're a Metal-Rules or Bravewords site that gets the top traffic of all the metal sites. Besides, other giveaways are coming...who shit in your Corn Flakes this morning geezz...

Just because they aren't sending out review copies as much as thier are advances to record stores doesn't mean they aren't promoting bands. While review websites are very good at promoting bands and informing the public about them and generally helping raise awareness of the bands, they do little in terms af actually distributing music to prospective fans. Record stores typically play them in the store, sell them

to the best of my knowledge every sales reps at all the companies we are customers of encourage any independant record stores who carry thier albums to sell the promos if it keeps them in business.

All the warnings, labels and other non-sense on the promo versions is there strictly so they can be given away and not taxed.

Locomotive Records (who distribute AFM, Dockyard1, Massacre, among others) is very good about sending promotional material out.Nuclear Blast/Century Media have always been generous. Insideout/Steamhammer have always promoted the shit out of thier bands.Candlelight is also still sending out lots of promos.

The only company out there not keeping up is probably Metal Blade and the major record companies, and neither have been very relevant in my eyes for years.

that wasn't what I meant. is it one cd with all the 15 bands featured, or 15 different cds?
