I'll care about Metallica again once they put out something a little better than St. Anger.

Oh, and as for my ratings of Metallica albums:

Kill 'em All - Very Good
Ride The Lightning - Good
Master of Puppets - Excellent
And Justice For All - Excellent
Metallica - Okay
Load - Very Good
ReLoad - Good

I can't believe anybody would even contemplate sticking up for this decision, aside from trying to stir things up. I will always like Metallica (purely musically I might add) and the fact that they've put out nothing but dire lamedom for most of the nineties doesn't stop me loving the still awesome old stuff.

This however is completely unnecessary, how the hell is a company whose name contains the word METALLICA owning a website in SWEDEN going to impact one iota on Metallica's many millions!? It's as daft as Spike Lee trying to sue Spike TV. I hope that when this goes to court the judge laughs at em at chucks it out.

And the 'It's not them, it's their lawyers' arguement is preposterous, Metallica pay those lawyers salaries, they're not owned by them, Metallica TELL them what to do, or at least approve everything they do. You honestly think they phone up Lars and say 'we're suing these guys whether you like it or not, by the way my cheques in the post right?' Please.

Hi. Some of you mewcomers might not know me, I'm back after a long (3 months?) hiatus. Anyway this has pissed on any respect I had for Metallica since the "Napster will have us in the poorhouse even though we've sold 80 million records" thing. Well, lets just stick on Master Of Puppets, forget the money-grabbing old men Hetfield and Lars have become, and rock the fuck out.

It's all about money. It's not about this company taking money away from Metallica, it's about this company making money off of Metallica's namesake. That's what it's all about.

How exactly is it taking money away from Metallica? Please do tell...somebody surfing the net comes across this website by mistake and decides to spend that cash he was going to spend on a shiny new CD on sheet metal instead? Or someone surfing for the Metallica website comes across this and is coerced into partaking in some Swedish steel!? It's ludicrous. Slipknot.com used to be owned by a goddamn knitting organisation. They're corporate whores but did they kick up this kind of fuss? No. they simply made a website called slipknot01.com. Problem solved. If Metallica wanted this site so badly they would have bought out ALL the 'Metallica' domain names across the board like big companies tend to. They didn't, this one was available, and the metal company bought it fair and fucking square.

I don't know, Al.. When I look up a band and get a steel mill website instead, I feel like I have to buy some of that sheet metal. Who knows how many millions of dollars suffering bands like Metallica have lost to the steel mill industry?

No idea, you'll have to ask the lawyers that question. I'm just pointing out that the reason behind it all is money.

Yeah... I can't really see a way to justify this type of litigation. I don't know enough to comment on the legal side, but I don't think Eyesore will be able to persuade anyone that it isn't selfish. Is it doing Metallica any harm whatsoever? Of course not! Boo, I say... and hiss.

One, yeah one Swedish Zoega-drinking (that's a coffee brand preferred by old-school hardcore social democrats / farmers for you non-Swedes) gråsosse working at 'the wharf' is more metal than Metallica has ever been.

I have heard of many like you my son, maybe we have the wrong approach. I suggest we start a charitable organisation called M.G.M.A. (Money Grabbing Metal Association) to raise awareness of this heinous crime perpetrated by the Swedish metal industry and give money back to those world straddling mega-bands that so desperately need your cash to survive.

I know it's about money, but Metallica have more than enough. I can't understand how you'd side with a 'richer than god' bunch of musicians over a bunch of hard working steel workers trying to cut a living. I like Metallica's music and all but this is just simple ethics...

I'm not trying to persuade anyone that it isn't selfish, I'm just not all that interested in hating on Metallica so I'm just showing a different side to the coin. I stated a while ago I could care less and that's true.

I'm not siding with anyone. :(

Well I guess it's always useful to have someone playing devil's advocate. Really though this just seems to be corporate muscle flexing, which is something I hate- especially from musicians. It actually gives me very little pleasure to hate on Metallica, but they are behaving like arses. And even if it is all their lawyers idea, I don't think it's acceptable for a band to pay so little attention to what's being done in their name.

Maybe this is a way for Metallica to get some attention because their next album will probably suck even worse then Shit Anger.

I bet if they booted Lars they'd release a great album. James and Lars just can't get along, regardless of how much therapy they've gotten. There's animosity there that won't go away.

I'd like James to release a solo album.

Lars and pals at it again. I can understand them wanting to keep their name off the website but there are ways of doing this, such as offering some money instead of a direct lawsuit. I'm sure the guy would lose the name for $50,000, which is just pocket change to those guys.

Oh yea, my picks...

Metallica
-------------
Kill 'em All - 8/10
Ride The Lightning - 10/10
Master of Puppets - 10/10
Garage - 8/10
And Justice For All - 10/10

Selloutica
-------------
Black Album - 5/10
Load - 3/10
ReLoad - 2/10
Garage 98' - 1/10 (Mercyful Fate cover saved this one)
St. Anger - 2/10

I still love the old stuff. I like to pretend they died after AJFA and alien imposters took over.

Kill em All-Fucking Classic!
Ride the Lightning-Has it's moments

Everything else has always been overrated crap. EVERY fucking Thrash band is/was better. Why Metallica gets so much credit is mind-boggling. Master of Puppets is a complete bore, and there isn't anything I can say about the albums after MOP that hasn't already been said.

Metallica is the single most overrated band ever.

"Higher, go Higher
Know you've paid for the best
Higher, go higher
Pay with your love, or a pound of your flesh

Don't know you're fucking with the best
All the competition laid to rest
Humble as you crawl out of the mess
One by one I count my pounds of flesh
Know you've paid for the best
Higher, go higher
Pay with your love, or a pound of your flesh"
Overkill
