Seriously, Varg needs to put down the guitar and enjoy farm life. What label is gonna pick up this album, Resistance Records. Varg deserves to be portrayed by Jackson Rathbone in the Lords of Chaos movie

Does the white God reference a racist thing or the sun? Anyway most of what Varg said there has already been stated by the man.

Personally I'm beginning to think he is too crazy to come out with anything good.

The white god is a mythological archetype/god (same thing) which is present in many mythologies, just as Varg explains. The thing is, that most mythologies contain the same symbolical figures or archetypes, but with different names and stories depending on local tradition, culture and language. Another example could be the trickster which is represented by Loke (Scandinavian mythology), partly by Satan (Christian mythology), Veles (Slavic mythology) etc. etc.

It seems that he tries to remove the regional connotations in favour of the symbolical understanding of the archetype.

I'm looking forward to this album. Varg's compositions are usually something special and cranks often write great music since their inspiration is different from what most other people perceive.

Thing is, he hasn't written/recorded a metal album since late '92/early '93. Will he still have the same capabailites so many years later?

Indeed. It could turn out disastrous and he is pretty honest about that it might not appeal to everyone. But some people just don't loose touch that easily. Nuclear Holocausto wrote his first Metal material since, what 1993, this year and the new Beherit is great. Black Metal isn't that focused on musicianship anyway, so if he lost some of his touch by not having access to instruments I just hope his ideas and compositions are as good as they used to be. On the other hand you could also reason that he have had many years to get workable ideas. Time will tell.

He used a smiley. I therefore predict the album will be released on Century Media and use breakdowns as an integral songwriting structure.

Its funny cause on his site he says Darkthrone are the only homies left keeping it real, when they've gone all anti-black metal and back in time to punk.

Darkthrone are totally keeping it real- they're going against the grain and doing what they want to, telling haters to FOAD. Totally black metal.

I'm pretty sure Varg would think punk is "negro music" in that its "just about bad guitars and idiots wearing safety pins and ripped jeans." The same way he equates metal with rap culture.

Anyway Darkthrone have been getting increasingly boring. I wish they would release derivative but strong works like Sardonic Wrath and Hate Them, rather than this new style of stuff.

I can't wait to see which label he deems worthy of his shizzle. Candlelight or Osmose, I predict; Season Of Mist least likely, but you never know.

Plus Varg has caved to the forces of political correctness and renamed the album.

I understand that he's a bit frustrated... The media have gone fucking nuts about it here. So has all the idiot anti-racism organisations. not because the negro-thing, but because of the album name.

I don't really see how the media would know that its some obscure reference to an obscure past name for a European deity. They seem all too ready to pounce on the guy given his past misguided past beliefs. I was actually reading some stuff off of his website, and even though I hate his 'minimalist' black metal approach; it should still be worth to see what he can do..

Meh I think Belus is a better title anyway. It will become black metallers msn names the world over!

What a sell-out. Anne Coulter wouldn't have renamed a book just because a few liberals whined about it, she'd have stuck her middle finger up and laughed. Varg, church-burner, Euronymous-stabber, attempted Nazi and prison-breaker, should have called it "The White God Trampling On The Inferior Races, Bitch" and used a picture of himself with Hitler hair for art. Instead, he caved in.
