Because he has had one foot in the grave for the last 27 years. I think they use a robot instead of him anyways........

What's wrong with Bill?

Old. Haha. I would have to assume that drumming is probably fairly tough for drummers who don't age well—especially with things like arthritis and just normal joint wear-and-tear over the years.

Haha, you know, you're kinda right. I can't imagine how the metalbands are gonna survive when they surpass the age of 50. Can you imagine watching a 55 year old Lombardo?

Exactly, I don't think it's anything serious. He bowed out for "health reasons", which could mean anything. As you know, people's personal medical records are private and should stay that way unless the individual chooses to make it public.

Ian Paice muct be scraping 60 now and can still play like craxy for Deep Purple. But it will vary from person to person.

Yep. It's all genetics after 50.

By the way, net savvy folks can find the other two new Sabbath tunes now. And I must say, they're fucking OUTSTANDING! These guys would be insane not to do a full album! Wait until you hear how doomy "Shadow Of The Wind" is! :dio:

Sabbath with Dio KO1 Sabbath with Ozzy. All day, every day. Accept it.

+1!!

I enjoy Dio's stuff over Ozzy's when it comes to Sabbath. Although we have to give credit to the Ozzy years Sabbath who came out with great tunes.

Absolutely. Ozzy with Sabbath is no slouch. I just think Dio has always been better suited for Sabbath.

I want to see them live so bad.. It would cost me a fortune though, and I'm already struggling a bit. But Dio is fucking awesome!
The new tracks are great, especially the slower songs. Ear in the Wall is good, but no Neon Knights or Mob Rules, that's for sure. Shadow of the Wind is just amazing towards the end, especially the "everyday is an inquisition" part :dio:

Gonna buy the collection-CD when it's released.

How expensive would the tickets be?

Well.. It depends, the show is taking place on a festival, and the price of tickets for one day is like $130. But it's more complicated than that.

It's taking place at Sweden Rock Festival, which is more than 1000 km away (~650 miles). 10 km of gas is costing me like $1.5, so going there and back would cost me $300. If I'm spending that much on gas I might as well be there the whole festival, and the tickets for that cost $270. so that's like $570 bucks not counting camping, eating, drinking and all the other expenses which usually amounts to quite alot.

Still considering it though, since Iced Earth will play there as well.

Geez, that's goddamn expensive. I thought gigs in Europe and the US were cheap/affordable. I spent somewhat the same amount just to watch Slayer in Singapore.

Yeah, well it's a festival so it is costly. A touring band with support is much cheaper, $30-$40 maybe for a band the size of Slayer and a decent opener. Definitely affordable. Bigger bands like Metallica or Iron Maiden usually cost around $60-$70.

Well that's pretty decent. When Kreator came here the tickets were 70 bucks flat, while the Slayer gig was a real marketing scheme. I bought the front row ticket which costed me 300 bucks. The cheapest was 160 bucks.

Man that is messed up, I didn't know tickets got that expensive in places. Do the shows sell out?

Well the turnout for both the gigs were pretty good. We had about 2000 people for Kreator and some 4000 for Slayer. But it's quite a disappointment considering that these 2 bands are pioneering legends. But they made a mistake. The Kreator gig was on a Sunday while Slayer's was on a Friday. Here in Malaysia, you should avoid organising events on weekdays and Sundays because the people are too busy.

The Kreator gig was in Kuala Lumpur, and being a Sunday, the fans from outstation weren't able to make it. Slayer's was in Singapore and being a working day, the turnout wasn't impressive. I would say the Slayer gig was the biggest disappointment because

1. they're such a big band, playing for the first time in the South East Asia region
2. the venue could hold up to 10,000 people but the turnout was only 4,000.

And for reason number 1, I didn't mind paying 300 bucks to see them. Cos God knows when is their next show over here.

Studio is the answer. On these two live bootleg clips you can hear Dio is a few steps behind his 80s game. But still, not bad for man that could legally draw Social Security retirement.

Well, a studio is a controlled environment, and Dio has the luxury of doing it a hundred times if he needs to. Every singer sounds better in the studio. He's still outstanding live, though. But he is old, no doubt, and it shows a little.
