They have clean vocals on every album...

The only slayer albums I listen to are the first 3 + seasons. And i've never noticed any clean vocals.

You should maybe actually listen to them, then.

Maybe we have different definitions of clean vocals.

Actually i think the difference would be in your definition of harsh vocals, Slayer is thrash with clean vocals, you know like Heathen or Anthrax, they may be more agresive but theyre still clean, overkill on the other hand could lead to many interpretations.

That would make it a CD Single. Disciple is the only song with any redeeming value on that album. Lyrics were dumb, dumb, dumb, and the guitarwork was equally dumb.

*cunk, chunk, chunk*
"Fuck you and your progress,
Here's the fucking regress,
Now you're nothing!
*chunk, chunk, chunk*
Payback's a bitch motherfucker!"

Yep, sheer poetry

frankly i never liekd slayer's "groovy" songs. i like my Slayer fast!

so, even if they get heavier, i'll still miss the speed.

it shouldn't be as bad as st anger, but it won't be another reign in blood either.

What an eminently retarded idea. I guess they felt they weren't getting enough "MALLCORE!!!" boos from the Metal crowd.

i thought it was clean all the while...although a slight raspyness. is that still clean? but it would be a turn off if arraya starts singin like matt heafy of trivium.......my biggest fear.

slayer lyrics have always been cheesy. no offence to the fans and the band. but thats how i see it. jesus saves for that matter, the chorus was purely ripped off from some poor kindy kids songbook i think. hell awaits....it was obvious it was a 'mix n match the word' game for the band. anything that rhymes fits in. but i do give credit for stuff like dead skin mask and raining blood.

I'll get flamed at for this, but they didn't change THAT much with Bostaph. Not to my ears, anyway.

You're right. They injected a little more groove and melody, which is a good thing. A lot of their early shit is just bad. Speed and nothing more.

Saying Lombardo can save the band makes as much sense as saying DeGarmo can save Queensryche.

Yeah, I never got into their early stuff, too sloppy and stereotypically crap-thrash.

their early stuff was what made slayer....SLAYER!!!! get what i mean? it put the band in the limelight. they played fast and trashy, yeah, cant deny that, but it sounded very different at that time as not many bands were doing it. and you gotta understand the reason slayer made it big is because they realised that their crowd grew bigger as their lyrics became ...err..evil-er. even king admits it. theyr not purely satanic, just posers through my eyes.

but back to the topic...sorry for the diversion...we cant claim their old stuff are bad. it was what that defined them till today. yeah they grew melodier as time went by, but who doesnt? i prefer their older material over the later ones despite knowing its pure mayhem with a touch of dumb lyrics.

Slayer have always been, since the beginning, very toungue-in-cheek about their whole imagery. It's not their fault people took them seriously, but that's what ended up getting them big.

There's a big difference between cheesy, and just randomly throwing swear words into songs to impress the angsty teens.

I don't expect it, but it would be extremely awesome if this ep turned out to be good. It'd be like a totally unexpected punch in the face.

I don't think it'll be bad, but I'd bet money it's downtuned modern riffage. That riff sounds like a Slipknot riff. It'll be more like recent albums, nothing old school except for King's terrible solos (Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!)
