This I just don't get. Is this basically her way of saving face?

Tarja Turunen, the ousted lead singer of Finnish metal group NIGHTWISH, said in a press conference in Helsinki on Friday (Nov. 11) that she had decided to quit the band already in December 2004, according to NewsRoom Finland.

In an open letter posted on the NIGHTWISH web site on October 22, the other members of the band effectively sacked her.

In tears, Turunen said she regretted the announcement came in the format of a letter instead of a face-to-face conversation. Check out video clips (and photos) of Turunen during her press conference, which took place earlier today.

When asked about being a cunt....She said she was not a cunt and her dickhead husband will vouch for that. She also stated that none of the bandmembers ever asked her not to be a self centered bitch, so she can't understand why they are complaining about that now. She also stated that she may lose a lot of money because now everyone knows how stuck up she is. She cried when saying this.

Not sure how accurate that transaltion is, though.

Don't jump to conclusions without actually understanding what's being spoken. Being finnish I saw the videos a little differently.

I don't think we are. I could have posted the other thing on Blabbermouth, but the interpretations were most likely skewed. So, being Finnish, what's the gist of what she said?

This kind of reminds me of what Steve Perry said in some interviews regarding Journey, especially the "I never really felt like I was a part of the band" bits. :roll:

I'd still like to have an English transcript of the entire press conference though...

I'm not presenting any speculations for they are most likely false in some parts, but I say this, some of you may have interpreted her as a bitch or a "cunt", forget it. Perhaps the "official" translations will do justice to this, perhaps not.
