Hey, he may very well want a hottie as his lead singer. As honest and genuine a musician he may be, at the end of the day through all the musical integrity the bottom line is that any band such as this is a job, it pays the bills. Nightwish with a hot singer would easily be more successful than Nightwish with an ugly singer.

That's the nature of the business. From reading what he's said, though, I do believe the talent of the vocalist will come first, looks would not outweigh that. Tuomas seems to be very genuine, I can't imagine he jeopardize the quality of the band just to have a hot singer fronting them.

Let's also not forget how many of you just voiced your disdain for Tarja's supposed "beauty." I don't think it's an issue, not what it sounds like anyway...

BTW, my understanding is that the word that was actually used by Tuomas (it was a Finnish word) doesn't translate very well into English, and means something more along the lines of having radiance. I'm sure that doesn't give the entire context of the original word, but you should get the idea. It is definately not the equivalent of someone saying "beautiful" in English, paritcularly when meant in a strictly aesthetic way.

What on earth are you talking about? I doubt anyone here feels differently about Nightwish now than they did before Tarja got the axe. I still think they're a great band, and if they get a non-operatic vocalist, I'll probably start listening to them.
