Gettysburg is good for people who are into the song precisely for the reason it was written, so it's limited in terms of mass appeal by design.

I'll be all over an Alive in Athens DVD if this really happens!!!

I'm guessing Century Media has lost a few cash cows recently (IE, BG) and are REALLY desperate to make some money. Works for me :dio:

i dunno, i don't really find Iced Earth to be that great. I own the 3 cd alive in athens, and they have some pretty good songs, but overall...

Alive in Athens is one of my favorite live cd sets, needless to say I'll be getting this as soon as it comes out. It'll be the the closest thing to seeing Iced Earth live with Matt Barlow that I'm going to get.

I dislike every live album I have ever heard, love those live DVDs though.

However with the gargantuan praise this album recieves daily, I finally decided to check it out. And its absolutely amazing! So far anyways, Im on A Question of Heaven and I cant believe how good this sounds. Im really very excited for a DVD release of this, I will own it exactly 11 days after its release, I swear! :dio:

Dude, I am no fan of live albums either. I just don't like them most of the time, but Alive In Athens is my favorite live album! The power and energy of a live show is translated perfectly on the CD set! It sounds AMAZING! It plays like a 3CD greatest hits that sounds better than the CD versions. It's killer. To have the visual part of it all to go along with it, man, that's going to rule.

I don't praise live CDs often, especially by metal and rock bands who generally never change things up (unlike artists like Ani Difranco and Dave Matthews Band who change things drastically and play tons of unreleased shit), but this one is the epitome of the exception. It rules.

Yeah, Im on Prophecy right now, its something to get me to like live albums, but for me to enjoy this so much and just sit here listening to almost 2 hours straight now, soon to be 3 hours, is quite something.

Im abit torn now though, should I buy this with so much more I want as well AND the DVD, or just the DVD..? Im leaning towards just the DVD. Maybe if I saw the album for like 5 or so bucks I'd buy it as well.

I don't know. The 3CD version is the best buy, I'd say, but the DVD is going to rule. However, knowing labels it likely won't be a 3DVD version. If Century Media is a true modern day label they'll release a standard version first, maybe a 2DVD version, the a special version at some point with all the tracks.

But, you can't bring a DVD to work or in the car. So, basically, I don't know.

Well, I cant have music at work, I only have 15 minutes of a walk to listen to a discman and I dont own or plan to own a car (anytime soon anyways). All of my musical journeys take place in my cozy little room. So I will definately purchase the DVD first and maybe someday down the road, I'll buy the album.. And hopefully this DVD will have all the songs.

Any one else hoping Colors will be on the DVD??? I know they recorded it but a mix up stoped it from getting on AIA. I considered buying another copy of The Melencoly EP for that song alone but i thought i wouldn't really be worth it.

I'm looking forward to this, and hoping that they have all three CDs (I have the three CD version of Alive in Athens, and can never understand why they usually market the double disc one or the single disc one, or why people actually buy those versions). I'm not a big fan of music DVDs, but Alive in Athens kicks ass, so I think I might buy this.

Yeah I truly can't wait for this to come out, this is the official countdown 57 days until the Alive in Athens DVD comes out! Plus Megadeth's United Abominations, can't forget about that...

I'm hearing that the third night of the Greece show wasn't filmed, so a 3DVD version is highly unlikely.
