On topic,I am a little conserned about the lack of Chris Amott. And with the past two albums they have been falling into a nasty habbit of sucking.Okay,to be honest I just don't prefer the new style that much, and while some bands try to expand their sound, incorperate new elements or just try something new,Arch Enemy seems to be suffering from a lack of passion, interest and enthusiasm.I do truely hope for the best though, and maybe they will push themselves to new heights.
I really wouldn't count on that ever happening. Micheal is pretty much comitted to breaking into the mainstream at this point. That's truly not inherently a bad thing, but the quality of the music is dropping off at a quick pace. Where there was once great soloing, and layered riffs, is now simple, easily digestable riffs that devolve into the "chugga-chugga" category far more times than anyone should be allowed to.

And conserning vocalists, while I enjoy Liiva and do not really like Gossow,I don't see why being female has some sort of disastrous consequence to playing heavy metal. At least she doesn't sound like anyone else(that much). It's this type of attitude that keeps most people from getting into metal. Its fanbase is dominated by a bunch of closed minded, quick to threaten and curse individuals who tend to be more offensive than anything else.If anything there aren't enough women in metal, and I hope to see more someday.
I don't dislike Angela Gossow because she's a woman. I dislike her because her vocals are completely processed. She achieves the sound through studio trickery. The mindblowing thing about it is, they make no attempt to hide it whatsoever. Micheal basically went "Hey, this chick is hot and with enough pro tools work, she'll sound viscious! People will pay finally attention to us because of our vocalist, regardless of the quality of the music. I've hit the jackpot!" My sarcasm aside, this is exaclty how their newfound popularity came about. Horny 14 year olds support the band because Angela is pleasant to look at. I promise if Johan had been replaced with a male singer, or a frumpy chick, not even half of the people who pretend like they care would be buying their albums.
