Yup, good band, slightly overrated though.

The backlash has started. Why is it when a band gets praised some people feel the need to put a dampener on things? Same thing happened with Dragonforce, if people like it, what the hell does it matter how much praise they get?

What the hell are you talking about? All Ken, Kath and I have said is "good band, not as good as some people say." How is this a backlash?

I was being partially sarcastic, but I still think you're being unfair. If the band gets that much praise, the odds are they'll be around longer than others, so where's the harm?

It's not about devastating originality, it's more about the advancement and perfection of a formula. Stuff has sounded like this before, but in my experience it's never been as convincing as Wintersun sound at their best. There are not-so-good tracks on the debut, so there is still room for improvement.

Because sometimes the amount of glorifying praise seems a bit much. I'm not saying that musically the band isn't great, they are, but I could name 50 other bands that sound like them.

Do you not agree that such levels of praise is good for the music and bands, though? It doesn't really hurt...

Slight, but come on, if you're going to get that anal you could probably compare them to Nile.

Its not being anal at all. In fact, the first thing I thought when I heard Wintersun was 'epic Bodom with folk influences.'

You think so? :? Apart from the guitar sound being slightly similar, and the yowly vocals (which are different, if only slightly), I think they're quite different.

Explains their sudden fame, though, if all the Bodomites went looking for something new after AYDY.
