i totally agree on that one, ha ha Laughing .. Beowulf sounds very sweet though.. reminds me a bit of myself a few months before i joined this forum a year ago. Ignorance didn't keep me away from posting about black metal either..
I admit to some ignorance concerning alot of BM, but I did go through a proper black stage about a year ago where all i listened to was Abigor to Zyklon (i know zyklon aren't totally black but i know no other BM band beginning with Z). People asked me what I was listening to and if the title didn't send them running then a 'sample' did.
But then one fateful day came when I had the master of all headaches/hangovers and BM just wasn't helping at all. So I put down my In The Nightside Eclipse and my De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and picked up a friends album called.....With Teeth!

just kidding!
Actually it was Reckoning Night by Sonata Arctica - my now favourite band, and it suited my mood just fine. when it was over i raided other cds i was being lent and picked up Stratovarius, Blind Guardian, Dragonforce and Dream Theater. Then my friends, I saw the light. And I am now an enjoyer of many facets of metal. Black, Death, Melodic, Speed, True (though i don't believe true exists, there is no real definition), Symphonic, Thrash, Prog, *cough* some Power, Goth, Industrial, and various weird shit without a genre (eg - Haggard).
But while I do still love my Black Metal, I'm not as an authority on it as i used to be (although that was probably shit compared to some of you). Also the BM scene started to piss me off a bit. some people were way to racist, facist and homophobic for my liking.
And as for Dark Medieval Times, I've never heard it. I was always told Satyricon's best was Nemesis Divina, which I had and found to be average. the better side of average, but still not up there with At The Heart of Winter. If anyone can educate me better, I'd be happy to listen
