I have to say I'm quite surprised to see the many negative comments about a vocalist who has done a lot for the metal world. :?

Personally, I will never forget the name Tarja, and hope she continues in a music style I love. 8)

I haven't followed any of the discussion going on in the other thread, but i could see where the negative sentiments are coming from. Saying she's done alot for the metal world is wrong, leading the "new" operatic and feminine element in metal is what she did. You can't really say that someone has done much for a scene when the intentions seemed primarily to be self-serving ( a little Kantian logic for ya). When i saw Nightwish here in Montreal a few months back i could see an obvious lack of energy and stage presence on her part (thuomas was going mental tho :) ) and to make things better, she canceled the rest of the show after 40 minutes because she wasn't feeling well. If i'd paid for the 40$ ticket, i would have been fucking pissed.

That's pretty damn selfish to be cancelling a show because yo're not feeling well, unless your life is in danger. I mean, god, how many underground bands out there slug it out continually, driving around in beat- up vans, receiving little (if any) pay, and playing a long circuit of gigs. I bet they have more determination to please their fans than call off a gig, just 'cause they're not feeling well.

Devin Townsend had the flu when Strapping Young Lad came to Omaha earlier in the year, and he played his entire set. (AWESOME SHOW btw)

Ya, I've been to shows where singers have had laryngitis and still sang and put on good shows.

Well, apparently Alexi Laiho played in Japan some time ago and still managed to play the show even though he'd go puke his brains out in between songs. And Impaled Nazarene's frontman still managed to play a show in russia despite the fact that someone put a drug in his drink (likely the date rape drug GHB) and woke up the next day barely remebering what the fuck had happened the night before. Anyways, thats pretty admirable and what Tarja did here in montreal was pretty selfish and "non-metal like". I mean, i don't know about you guys, but when i was a little younger, paying 45 dollars for a show was a fucking hell of alot of money and the days or weeks before it were filled with unbelievable anticipation. To me, it is a stab at the audience when the performer can't give it their all on stage despite "not feeling well", especially when its a sold out show.

this is just one bit of evidence for Tarja as to why the band kicked her out of Nightwish. I bet she'll end up doing solo pop or orchestra music
