It's probably best that you don't care.
One look at you and your girly clothes, and you'd be lucky to make it out alive, if thrash shows are still anything like they were back in the day.
I've seen plenty of boot parties thrown for poseurs that were stupid enough to show up in lame glam attire and eyeliner.

Anyway, this is an intersting concept, but nothing beats the live experience.
After seeing Possessed (85), my ears rang for two-three days, and I was practically deaf; it came back (not quite 100%, though) but, I ws getting a bit worried that I really fucked up and deafened myself.

Slayer show. Guy was wearing a 50 cent t-shirt.

Let's just say, it wasn't pretty.

I get "you don't look like a metal and/or punk" fan pretty regularly at shows. People here are aren't retarded enough to get angry about how someone dresses though. From what I've heard, the 80s metal and punk scenes seem like they were filled with violent dicks who got way too worked up about dumb shit like the clothes other people were wearing.

It was good times, man.
Don't get too upset, I just like giving you a hard time, all in good fun. The only thing that you really have ever done to piss me off is say Zep sucks, and before that, Maiden.

My tolerance for whiggers extends far into the negative range.

Given how Slayer fans treated Slipknot fans when the two had a show together here that time, I dread to think what would happen to a 50center. They do seem to have a reputation as violent morons, being a Slayer fan myself who's never seen them live.

Of all the bands including Testament, I'd say Testament has lost the least. Chuck Billy is a freaking monster live.
Didn't see Megadeth in '86 but I would say they were a fucking beast a few years ago. No apparent lack of spunk to me over the decades.

I saw Slayer in 85, and their was a definite underlying feeling of random violence just waiting for the right spark to set it off at any moment; that's part of the fun.
Plus, Venom was the headliner so, it was a rowdy crowd, and Exodus was the opening act and as you can imagine, they got the blood boiling.

The floor was one big roiling pit blasted by wave after wave of molten fucking metal... Slayer live in 85 was Slayer in their prime.
What do you expect? It is violent music, and that aggression carries over into the crowd.
If you are squeamish of such things, probably best to steer clear of Slayer shows.

If they would replace Anthrax with Testament that would have been even more exciting.

Yeah but, say, Napalm Death shows don't have the same reputation, even though ND are faster and more aggressive than Slayer. There's something specifically about Slayer fans which makes them like that, and you can't just explain it by 'well, man, the violence is in the music' like Tipper Gore after a few blunts.

I saw Slayer live in Hungary one time at a festival, it was quite a strange experience consisting mainly of getting elbowed by drunk Eastern Europeans. I wasn't really into Slayer's music at the time, actually, cos this was quite a long time ago, plus I was having rather distracting health issues so I didn't appreciate it as much as I should have done.

Saw Metallica shortly after back home and even though it was just after St. Anger came out they were still a phenomenal live band. THen I arrived home in the small hours to sleep to find my landlord had changed my burglar alarm codes without telling me what the new ones were, so I had to sleep with a deafening siren going off. Amazingly, on a terraced street not one person came to see if there was anyone breaking in.

I saw Napalm Death at the same Hungarian festival. THere was this random addled HUngarian who was absolutely MASSIVE... he kept shoulder barging this girl I was with even in between songs when Barney was just talking and she was pretty bothered by it. So I tapped him on the shoulder.... nothing happened. Tapped him harder.... nothing. Eventually I was just thumping him on the shoulder with all my strength (I was pretty scrawny then) just to get him to turn round. Then he got me in this headlock which I managed to worm out of- he thought it was all hilarious but we were a bit "WTF".

I've never been to a ND show, but I would imagine that it is a different fanbase.
And Slayer, Venom Exodus Possessed, etc, have an entirely different "tone" to their music; songs about blood, pain, death, Satan and so on, thereby (I surmise) attracting a much rowdier and crazier crowd.

From all I've seen and heard, ND shows are very energetic - the one I have on DVD has a near-constant stream of stagedivers. I suppose you may have a point re the violent lyrics, but surely the violence of the music would take precedence in terms of its effect?

Even the tone of violence within the music is different though... ND may be angrier faster, etc. but songs like Praise of Death, Necrophiliac, Face The Slayer and the rest are more, I don't know, the only word I can think of is malevolent.

So take it a different direction - how come Cannibal Corpse shows seem to be less violent than Slayer ones? You can't tell me Hammer Smashed Face etc are less malevolent than Slayer tracks...
