Just don't review Nickelback ;)

Whether you like it or not, post-grunge has a place on this site along with the Foo Fighters. In the future expect some Silverchair, Collective Soul, and possibly even Nickelback.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no...

At least Dave Grohl played in some Metal projects. There's absolutely no reason to review any of that.

Have you heard Silverchair? They're heavy as fuck. Furthermore, using musician's side projects as a reason for validating stuff that isn't strictly metal is bullshit. Metal is a wide enough genre to be able to cope with diverging interpretations of what it means.

Silverchair: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTM5cDIESrY

Oh, fuck off. Reviewing that shit is abusing your power as a reviewer.

I knew this was going to happen.

Anyway, my POV is this:
There is a lot of music that is not strictly metal yet has a lot of elements in common with metal. This music deserves recognition by a site as diverse and open-minded as this one. Whether you personally find the stuff good or not is irrelevant. Not reviewing some things just because some people find them bad is hypocritical. Not to mention that Nickelback and co. are held in rather high regard by the majority of the heavy metal community here, who see them as an enjoyable rock band. I didn't apply for a reviewer's job here because I wanted to include post-grunge in the site. I applied because I wanted to review metal and metal-related music, and because I wanted to contribute to a community that I hold dear.
Anything I review I will try to review with an objective perspective, and I will do my best to point out exactly what is and isn't good about it.

I don't care, I just wish you weren't a reviewer here.

No one's forcing you to read my reviews. Do you have a personal stake in the image of the forum?

Anyway, expect the new Skyclad review sometime soon.

Good choice. I haven't listened still, but Skyclad is solid.

No, but if you don't then why do you care who else is reviewing? Read the reviews you want to and don't complain.

Nickleback isn't post metal,nu metal it's no where even close to metal.

It's modernized rock that's all and should never be reviewed on this board.

Frigid you got flack from a lot of us including me for admitting you liked Nickleback but if you review anything from them, than that's a shitstorm waiting to happen.

What's wrong with modernized rock or even just rock? We've got plenty of that already.

My two cents is that whenever I reviewed non-Metal stuff like Muse and Foo Fighters I anticipated whining and so spent a portion of the review saying things like 'it's got solos and Dave Grohl likes Celtic Frost and Mike Portnoy likes it' that I could point to and be all awesome, like usual. Foo Fighters are decent Rock, I believe, which is fine for this site; riffs, solos, good songs that don't all sound the same, etc. Reviewing it was as much a statement in of the fact I was bothering, me, whose first review for the site was the L'acephale demo, which makes me 100000 times more krieg than any of you. It certainly wasn't my plan to review the FF back catalogue or write a review of Nickleback - even my Disturbed review was based more around the fact that a kvlt mofo like me was caught by the catchiness rather than selling out.

What I'm trying to say is, I'm a man of the people. Please don't burn my house down or flame my review threads, even though I'll be doing some Clutch soon. Come on, Clutch rule. Even DevWal likes them.

I could spend half the review saying how Nickelback's drummer likes Meshuggah. But I won't. Because it doesn't matter.

This doesn't mean that I plan on writing any Nickelback reviews any time soon, though, don't worry.

It does a bit though. Means he's not a complete tosser (if it's true). Note how I avoided mentioning that the Foo's bassist doesn't believe in AIDS. You have to be a be smart in what facts you do put in reviews.

How does his being a tosser or not affect the quality of the music in any way? If he still plays the exact same thing, does it matter whether he likes Meshuggah (and he does) or not?

Because that kind of shit matters to Metalheads.

Modern rock today sucks compared to the 60's-90's. You have crap bands like Fall Out Boy,Nickleback,Alter Bridge and the other new comer crap bands with no soul at all. All they care about is getting 13 year old girls panties wet.

Because you can judge that, right? Don't you see the hypocrisy? The differences in genre are essentially the same. You can't exclude one or the other on personal grounds without contradicting yourself.

And Fall Out Boy have NOTHING to do with Nickelback. Post-grunge, NOT emo.

heh heh.

And how many girls panties were soaked through by the beatles back in the day?

Anyway, post-grunge is the worst genre name ever, and frankly 99% of bands in that genre suck.
