They played Perth last night for the first time ever, what a fantastic show, and a brilliant set list. Number of the Beast and Hallowed be thy Name were incredible!

I'm glad for you! I'm sure Perth isn't spoiled when it comes to bands visiting, being so remote. Iron Maiden definitely are among the top rated live acts around so I'll bet they made an impression :)

I was there last night! :dio: Fucking slayed! The Burswood dome was PACKED, young fans and old fans alike.

I think they played the same setlist as Mumbai, but we got Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Can I Play With Madness and yes The Trooper, so i was damn happy :dio:

(And Maiden have never to been to perth, so i dont thin anyone gave a shit if it was a predictable with all the classics :dio: )

Well, some people seem to be complaining a lot about the setlist for this tour. With all respect, these people are missing one little detail: Iron Maiden haven't been to every part of the world. My point is, there are places, such as my home country - Colombia - where Maiden's fans - myself included - have been eagerly waiting for them to offer a concert here; I guess we too have a chance.
Now, the have announced they are visiting us on 28 of February. For us, any song they can play will be awesome. It may sound conformist, but this is perhaps the only chance we will ever have to see them live.

I was going to go to the show in Toronto, but they sold almost instantly. And I didn't have any money almost instantly. I could maybe buy from scalpers or look online. Or just wait for them to come back, they've been to Toronto 3 times in the last 5 years. So I know they'll be back. Plus Judas Priest starts touring in June, so I can see them this year at least.

Thu 5/22/08 Houston, TX - Woodlands - on sale 3/1 10am
Sun 5/25/08 Albuquerque, NM - Journal Pavilion - on sale 3/1 10am
Mon 5/26/08 Phoenix, AZ - Cricket Pavilion - on sale 3/15 10am
Wed 5/28/08 Concord, CA - Concord - on sale 3/9 10am
Fri 5/30/08 Los Angeles, CA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre - on sale 3/1 10am
Sat 5/31/08 Los Angeles, CA - Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre - on sale 3/1 10am
Mon 6/2/08 Seattle, WA - White River Amph - on sale 3/8 10am

TOTAL BULLSHIT!!! I'm sick of this band doing this here!! I've about lost all respect for this band.

Its a worldwide tour that they probably have a limited time to complete. Bruce has to use vacation from the airline now to go on the road, and they're not getting any younger. They're coming to my town, so I'm not going to complain.

Those are the weakest excuses I've ever heard and quite frankly, I'm tired of Iron Maiden hiding behind age and "other" commitments. Bruce can do whatever he feels he wants to do when he wants to do it. When the Rolling Stones tour....they tour. The Stones are how much older than Iron Maiden? Black Sabbath and Dio are how old?

My comments are not meant specifically for you derncare, they're all aimed at Maiden. These guys were talking about a comprehensive US tour for over a year now. In fact, according to them it was going to see many more cities than the AMOLAD tour. I'm just really disappointed in Iron Maiden and the touring choices they've made (in regards to the US audience) over the last 4 to 5 years. I mean the DOD tour here consisted of 2 or 3 dates in California and 3 dates in New York City.

IMO they're presenting themselves as very selective and elitist.

This is a just a guess, but some of it could be that Maiden just isn't that big in the US. (I never knew why.) And the fans here kind of suck. I say this with much pain, because I am 20 year Maiden fanatic, but I'm seldom impressed with the crowds at their shows. I've seen them here in Boston twice in a smallish venue, once in a larger one (which was not sold out), and most recently, at a moderately-sized athletic arena for Boston University (and they couldn't even sell that out!) Plus, haven't there been incidents in the US with booing (related to last tour when they played only the new album) and obnoxious fans throwing shit? Again, it pains me, but I've read quotes where Bruce has threatened not to tour in the US any more period!

I am going to be extremely disappointed if they don't add more dates and come my way though, that's for sure.

Yeah, you can't just blame Maiden. There have been many US shows where they were treated like crap. Some blame has to go to stupid, young so-called fans who have ruined shows over the last few years too.

I'm a long time fanatical Iron Maiden fan as well. That's why this subject really angers me. I guess my biggest point of contention is what I wrote earlier. Iron Maiden should not "hype" what their plans are for touring here and then fall ridiculously short every time. They've done that for years now.

For me : Don't say one thing and then do another.

You're right about fans here, ticket sales, and overall exposure here. They have the rest of the free world clamoring to see them so, I guess in there view, why should they put any effort into winning over a waining American audience? It just frustrates me that real die-hard, life long, US Iron Maiden fans get hosed because of it.

You're absolutely correct - those of us that are real fans in the US do get hosed. But I feel like, if our fans suck -- and it seems they mostly do, save for a small, practically "cult" following -- why would Maiden put much emphasis on coming here and playing to lame or obnoxious crowds? If I were them, I'd say fuck that and go everywhere else where they are worshipped. I can't comment on what they promised to do, US-Tour-wise, because I never saw what they promised. I'm not doubting you, but at the same time, I have heard nothing but disgust from them about US crowds in recent years -- so I'm surprised to hear that they'd vow to have a massive tour here.

And again, I never understood why, Maiden ALWAYS took a back seat to Priest and AC/DC and even Metallica when I was growing up around here. I watch footage of Maiden shows overseas, South America, etc. and I'm envious of that sort of rabid adoration. It's how it should be every where!

I agree. It makes me want to invest my family's vacation money for a plane ticket and a tickets to a Maiden show in Brazil.

Every show I've ever seen them play the venue has been sold out here in the US or damn close to it. I guess I was lucky where I lived...there were plenty of Maiden fans. This just sucks!!
