I always like Hatecrew. A classic for sure.

I think the new album is going to sound like a bad Metalcore album with no good melodies.

I think their problem is not being able to find the right balance between more complex riffs and simpler, catchy riffs. Their early albums have too much going on and nothing is memorable, but their later stuff doesn't stand up too well to lots of listening.

And yeah, keyboards are a big problem too =P

I like keyboards. I play keyboards. Follow The Reaper is my favourite CoB album. AYDY has nothing on the previous work. I weep for Janne's wasted skill when keyboards are not used properly.

I'm sorry, but any band that has thier record company print thier album art on shopping bags for record store promotions must be too desperate to sell thier albums.

You're the first person I've ever heard suggest it was a good idea to hear them.

I still stand by it! :dio:
And, fiy, a band is not responsible of its record company commercial methods.

Sorry to get off topic, But when a band signs with any record company, they become responsible for all thier actions.

I was largely joking anyway, I mean, who cares what promotional tools the band uses. It just seems a little "Anti-metal" to market products that are going to be bought by a niche audience that pays no attention whatsoever to advertising.

My friend ordered a few copies for his store and tried to talk me into one, glad I avoided it then. I'll have to see about the first two, especially since they will likely go out of print any day now.

I didn't say advertising. Or else this site wouldn't exist. I'm talking about promotions. Who here is not sceptical about a major label's choice of bands to promote? If you bought an album based on anything other than likeing the music, you're a fool.

Um... you did say advertising. And what's the difference, really, between advertising and promotion? Either way, it's getting the band noticed more, even if perhaps Ydknfd Knnigosoth Bah! from Peru should be getting the attention because they're the best thing since Rob Halford...

And sort of agreed about buying album only if you like the music, but not knowing if you will and trusting a review can be acceptable too...

promotions are based on getting people intersted in a band's music. This includes reviews, advance copies and stuff like that.Even concerts are promotional.

advertising is hyping up printed materials, letting everyone know the product is coming out and what it offers.

these two aspects are handled by two different record company departments, i believe.

One is making sure the bands' name is "out there" (the ironically called "marketing" department) and one is responsible for making sure record stores have the ability to sell the damn thing (i.e. reps sending out samples and promos, giving out information to retailers, such as sales history ect.)
