the grammys (at least the Metal ones) are complete bullshit. if they don't know WTF they're nominating then they might as well cancel them altogether. as a metal fan i find the metal grammys embarassing, to say the least.

But why? It was one of the shittier songs from the album. IMO.

As far as the news itself goes, I consider it a novelty item. The concept of Slayer being awarded a Grammy is amusing, though.

But what's even more amusing to me that the song getting the award is the most mediocre and dull track of an otherwise superb album (that probably says a lot about the Grammies, I think). Why didn't they make a video for Jihad, dammit? The reactions of seeing a song possessing a very touchy way of presenting a current issue winning a Grammy couldve been much more interesting. Not to mention that the tune rules.

I seriously think they just pull a random name out of the hat for metal at the Grammies. Anyways, the Grammies suck.

but who exactly are these people? is this an "academy" like in the oscars? the public? musicians? the RIAA?

EDIT - what was worse, not picking ... AJFA in 1989 or 1990 (it wasn't the best, but it was more metal than Jethro Tull!) or picking St. Anger a few years ago?

I think they have their own governing body, much like the Academy.

As far as partonizing goes, well, you can't be patronized if you aren't paying attention. Aside from Christina Aguilera being a hot piece of ass, I can think of no good reason to watch that crap.

And Jethro Tull is way more Metal than Metallica.

The Grammys nominate whomever MTV tells them to. The "metal" category has winners such as Slipknot, SOAD, and post-Load Metallica. Nuff said.

Personally I think "Disciple" is a much better song than "Eyes of the Insane".

Jesus fuck! I never knew the grammy had an award for metal. Anyway, I think the real winner should have been Deicide, but sadly they weren't even nominated.

Ha, this is just laughable! How can they nominate a metal grammy if they only know like 3 metal bands?! I bet they draw the nominees by looking which metal albums have made the billboard top10 at the given time. And that leaves just a handful of bands
