I would love to attend this (not compete). I could watch good drumming all day.

Yeah, but this isn't going to be good, per se, just fast. I sure as hell wouldn't be able to stand it.

Well being superfast does help you in making some kind of music, like grind...

if you don't have a fast enough drummer use a fucking drum machine...

anyway, slow patterns are way more difficult to handle...

Yeah, and if you can't sing, you can just autotune your vocal tracks in the studio like Britney!

Drum machines can be cool, but not as a substitute for a human drummer.

Slow patterns can be difficult to handle. So can fast patterns. It depends on many more factors than just speed.

Music is competitive a lot of the time. It shouldn't be artistically speaking, but amongst musicians it is natural to want to play faster than everyone else. Many people spend a long time practising towards that end... If sports players can challenge themselves against others, why shouldn't musicians?

There has been much arguing since the beginning of the WFD. Is it music? Is it sport? Is it important?

It is NOT music. Yes it IS sport, but practicing for a WFD event is not a waste of time. The technical things that you will develop will make it easier for you to play your drums. You will also learn tips from a bunch of real nice guys on how to play BETTER and EASIER.
