Passion was the first album of theirs i didn't like because I thought it was boring but for some reason this song clicks with me. I actually am kind of excited for this one after hearing it.
Passion was awful especially considering Constellation was so strong.
Passion was far from awful. It might not have been up to par with the rest of their stuff but awfulness is something this band has never been associated with.
No. It is literally forty minutes of boring, boring deathgrind with awful clean vocals. After moments of experimentation like "Unbearable Filth", which was basically a huge breakdown, Passion can't be considered anything but them doing a subpar version of what they have always done, minus the great riffs and songwriting that they were able to pull off in the past. After hearing this new album, which was a step up, I can't help but think that they are on auto-pilot.
I totally agree with the Passion statements and have been saying since Constellation, they need to start branching out a bit. It's great for blood pumping fast music but beyond that they have been a one trick pony since Hell is Empty (could argue before that but eh.).
Constellation, after more listens, I might actually prefer to Hell is Empty, which I loved when it first came out and was my entryway into the band. Constellation just had some dirty tracks. Oil Upon the Sores, Unbearable Filth, So Be It, Blood Eagles Carved were all just nasty and they didn't rely on that sound which has almost become generic for AN. I kinda wish they would just cut the clean vocals altogether.
