I finally heard some of Empiricism and The Archaic course, these guys are a great band.

Yeah, first two albums with Garm are my favorite though. This is good news, as less Vintersorg is better than a lot of Vintersorg, and Vortex is good. His performance on Borknagar's "Quintessence" album is my favorite thing he's ever done. Tracks like Colossus :wub:

I don't know. I feel Simen's vocals are the only thing that made Quintessence worthwhile for me. For me, their last outstanding album was The Archaic Course. I fear they might have just run out of good ideas since that album, so I doubt if Simen's rejoining will create a - absolutely necessary - fresh impulse in Borknagar songwriting.

I generally agree. But since I view the Vortex era better than the Vintersorg period, the interest in Borknagar is higher than it would have been.
