I'm sure it will be worth the wait. There's supposed to be some big twist on this album but I guess they're not going to reveal anything until sometime closer to the release.

True I rather have Tuomas take his time to create something grandiose then rush something out that is sub par but still I'm a impatient person lol.

Can't wait though hopefully they can pull off something in the realm of Once and Century Child. DPP is a good album but I'm still longing for albums like Once and CC.

DPP is actually my favourite NW album, which says a lot because for the longest time it was always Century Child. But it's been almost three years since it came out and I still listen to it regularly.

Yeah DPP has become my second favorite Nightwish album, just slightly behind Oceanborn. So I cant wait for this new one, I thought it'd be out late 2010 though :( but I guess its good to finally get something official news wise.

Really? I saw DPP as a small step up from the godawful Once, and nowhere near as good as their back catalog.

Looking forward to a new one. I thought DPP was great.

DDP is the best thing Nightwish have done so far.

Not to mention that Anette is prettier than Tarja. (I'm just saying this to get my opinion out before this thread, like any Nightwish thread, will inevitably degenerate (or evolve, depending on your perspective) into a hotness contest).

Tarja is only good looking with all her makeup on.

Now that I think about it, the same could probably be said for Anette. :P

Is that including Tarja's leather polish or without? :P

Still, MDB influence? Do want.

I'm pretty excited about whatever they do next as DPP had some quality songwriting, astounding at times. I thought it was a notch or two above Once.

Tuomas wrote:
"Songs #9 and #10 took shape last weekend. The #9 one explores Zimmer territories shamelessly with the chorus taking us back to our roots. Emppu's [Vuorinen, guitar] favorite part of the whole album, I reckon.

"I've always had problems with short-, simple-structured songs but this sounds very promising even to my cynical ears and heart.

"Last song put together will be the last one on the album, an insanely ambitious piece. I assume it will be close to 20 minutes long. Uncle Walt's [Disney] spirit is already haunting in every note of this song. Still needs some arranging, though.

"We have only one song left to practice after the monster song, an acoustic piece in the vein of 'The Islander'. Ennio Morricone meets Christy Moore.

"Emppu and me need loads of Guinness, some fine single malt and a windy day to bring this one alive. And [U.K. multi-instrumentalist] Troy's [Donockley] pipes and bodhran, of course.

Sounding pretty awesome, can't wait for this. 20 min song!

And Anette's baby was born fine, so :) all around.

You can never go wrong with a 10 min+ NW song. :dio:

I can't tell if Tuomas is pretentious, or if he really really really knows his music.

Perhaps a little of both? I've noticed that he's very honest when it comes to talking about songs after they've been recorded (i.e. admitting the re-recording of Sleeping Sun being a mistake or calling one of the Once bonus tracks "the worst shit I've ever done").

A 20 minute NW song has so much win in it :dio:

I loved DPP, and I think Annette is a solid singer, but she does lack the sort of power I think Nightwish needs in a singer. I'm secretly hoping Annette decides to become a stay-at-home mom and Nightwish can recruit Floor Jansen. Fuck! That would rule.
