I'm not at all worried about this signing. Besides, Metal Blade is the new Roadrunner.
When the public abandons buying music, labels have to sign bands that will make them money. That's a simple fact. In 2007, do you think Metal Blade can make money off of bands like Flotsam & Jetsom and Metal Church? Of course not. So they sign metalcore bands, and bands that'll allow them to do business without folding like most small labels—and Metal Blade is a small label.
Personally I have no issues with Metal Blade, they still sign some great bands. And there was nothing wrong with Roadrunner until they started all the bullshit reissues.
Metal Blade has been a company for 25 years. Making profit has never been a problem for them. So why
now sign onto the metalcore wagon? Somehow, someway, they've managed to make money without As I Lay Dying and I Killed The Prom Queen. Signing one or two metalcore bands is one thing, but signing everything left and right is another.
