What the crap? Doesn't Deep Purple have a hard enough time selling albums, now they've also resorted to the nonsensical reissue tactic? Why reissue a brand new album.
I think this has more to do with a label change and a new promotional deal with a North American company (Eagle Rock). This album wasn't all that widely available in North America up to now. There's a couple of unreleased studio tracks and a very cool Steve Morse instrumental as well. The other live stuff....well we don't really need any more live versions of Highway Star and Smoke On The Water now do we? Right now, they don't seem to be having any problems selling albums. Rapture Of The Deep is selling very well for them outside North America and is on par to be one their best selling albums in decades.
Really? Well then I take back my assumptions. I'm not a fan of reissues unless they're well worth it (Jerry Cantrell's Degredation Trip for example). If the US fans don't have this yet, or it's not easily found then that OK, I guess.
