I would say female energy is more part of what I do vocally than anything else. I did time growing up listening to The Misfits and really angular, angry stuff, but then I graduated and blossomed from that. I'm just more in touch with female energy as far as that's concerned 'cause there's so much aggressive energy going on behind me that I think it needs the high notes. It needs to pierce, it needs to have that banshee quality, I think.
-Cedric from the mars volta

so far I've only found a few bands that do the "girly vocals + balls" thing really well:
Battle of Mice (holy crap these guys are amazing)
The Mars Volta
Protest the Hero
and to a lesser extent Stolen Babies

so what I'm looking for is MOAR

or just any kind of discussion of this kinda thing

I don't think Varg sounds girly at all, if that's what this is about.

That's a fair point, but I'd say Ihsahn's vocals much better fit the "banshee howl" description.

True. I don't put on Burzum to rock out, that's for sure. I dozed off listening to Hvis Lyset Tar Oss last night. In a good way though. Tomhet is such a relaxing song.

I have to agree! Angela is incredible. :dio: :dio: I would also like to add In This Moment's vocalist in the ring. Maria has a great singing voice and can scream like a demon. Plus she's fantastic live and being super hot doesn't hurt either does it?

Check her out! :dio:

She sounds like a robot. That would be ok if it fit the music but in the context it sounds shitty.

The only good thing about her joining the band is that a dose of T & A got them a jump in popularity.

Stabaath from Lucifugum is really good. I think there should be more female vocalsits in BM, as they can hit the high pitched shrieks better.
