I'm a bass player, still sharpening my tool and I realised that if I don't play my bass for a few weeks, my timing just goes haywire. My buddy keeps harping on me to play along a metronome, but I just don't have the ready cash to get one at the moment. I downloaded a metronome software called 'Weirdmetronome' from download.com and I liked it. It has a very simple approach and user friendly. But I realised that it does lag a bit after some time. It worked perfectly last night, but when I played this morning, I realised it was lagging.

Does anyone know any good metronome softwares? My friend suggested metronome online but you have to play it when you're online. The problem is I don't have internet connection back in my room so I can only rely on downloaded softwares or....I just go an buy one.

I'm using guitar pro 5 but I find the metronome a little off beat, lags a little. Maybe it's my PC.

Rrrrrgh I hate metronomes. My bands been getting on my case to practice with one because I keep screwing up the recordings by playing the wrong tempos, but I hate them. Takes all the fun out of playing. I understand that they're useful and all but I wish there was another way.

What do you play, Morlock?

I've got the same problems as well and I feel guilty cos Im holding the band back. But when Im playing with my drummer, everything's fine. He provides the tempo. But when Im jamming with just my guitarist, that's when the fuck up starts.

I had the same trouble when I started drumming, but if you just start practising everything to the metronome, you're fine with it soon enough. I started with very basic rhythms... It's just a matter of really listening to the thing when you're playing and then you're usually fine.
