EQ settings for iPod/iTunes?

Post subject:  EQ settings for iPod/iTunes?
For those that use these programs, which preset do you like the most? Right now I have mine on the classical setting since it makes guitars sound bigger and lowers the vocals more towards the middle of the sound so they're not on top of everything...

just wondering which you guys think sounds best for metal/music in general.

i have on for the majority of the time the bass booster, since the ipod has like no bass at all and sometimes i use the rock setting. I wish they would have made the ipod sound like some of the discman's do, the sound on this sony discman i have the bass sounds awesome, it has like 3 settings for bass, you can hear the bass guitar and double bass comes through so good and the sound is so nice and full, the ipods just dont sound like that.

I like Rock the best. I think it has a good balance of bass and treble. But, the most important thing is listening with a pair of good headphones--if you're listening with the stock buds, it won't make much of a difference what EQ setting you put it on.

I just bought the new bose in ear headphones and i must say they sound quite good, i have been messing around with the eq settings on the ipod trying to get the best sound. Does anyone know if apple is gonna release the brand new ipod in the spring? I have a 40gig version but the 80gig for $350 looks pretty good, but i wanna hold out for the new one

I have my Ipod on rock, because I think it has the best balance between bass, vocals and the rest of the music out of all the EQ settings.

I've always been curious on the sound from iPod. Is it any good? I use my Sony Ericsson W800i as a music player (512 mb is a pain to use!) and it sounds great with Koss Porta Pro. Heavy bass and everything.

I have Sennheiser earbuds and headphones and it sounds great. Better than my Sony 20 gb player did anyhow, but that made you convert songs to .omg form, and if I did that to mp3s it would hurt the sound quality a lot (or at least enough so that I'd notice it, and I'm pretty bad at noticing these things).

I have a creative zen:V and i always leave my setting to flat. i dont use the special sound fields. It sounds much more natural that way. If you have decent earphones it should sound best this way. By best i mean, sound more closely to how it was recorded. If the original production sucked its going to sound shitty no matter what.

Do you mean .ogg? Or do they really call it that?

It's a good format, but unless you import CDs that you physically have it only lets you do 64 kbps, and combined with the fact that its already an mp3 in the first place its not good for the sound quality :zzz:

I did my research on mp3 players and my top priority was SOUND. I hate those gay pre-set equalizer options (on any stereo). Fuck that. I can adjust my own EQ and I automatically DQ'd any player that didn't have customizable EQ. Next I was looking for bass boost because I love punch in my music, something that most headphone experiences can't deliver.

I found all that in the iAudio G3 (2 gig version is around $100). I topped it off with a pair of Sennheiser HD595s and I've got the greatest sound I've ever heard on headphones. Nice full bass, and the clarity is awesome thanks to their BBE technology.

Only two drawbacks to the G3:

1) it's fugly
2) weak headphone jack has to be handled with care

Remember folks, your music only sounds as good as your speakers, and that means headphones too. That's where you should spend your money.

Sennheisers are indeed incredible headphones. I myself have a pair of Ultimate Ears, and I also have a pair of Grado SR60's but I don't use them anymore since I got Klipsch speakers. At first, I hated the speakers in comparison to my Grado's but they're definitely growing on me.

And I like the preset EQ settings since if I had to adjust them myself, it would sound like shit...

The way I see it, my MP3 player is a means to bring plenty of music with me in situations where carrying CDs around would be a pain in the ass.

I think spending alot of money on equipment to try and milk great sound out of an MP3 is like buying the world's greatest car alarm system to protect a Yugo :lol:

I notice a bigger difference switching to better headphones than from mp3 to cd... :\
