Post subject:  If you directed Avantasia

My two Avantasia CDs finally came in the mail, and it freakin rocked. What a great idea for a project. So I got to thinking, if another Avantasia-type project was made, who would I want to be in it? So I figured it'd be cool to see the top cast list ideas from people on the forum. Here's mine:

Guitars:
Mikko Salovaara (Kiuas) - Mostly for rhythm guitars
Jose Garrido (Arwen) - Lead and rhythm guitars
Tim Roth (Into Eternity) - For accoustic guitars, Buried in Oblivion style
Henjo Richter (Gamma Ray) - Some things you don't change

Bass:
Adrian Lambert (Ex-Dragonforce) - Because his bass solo on Body Breakdown on Inhuman Rampage rocked

Drums:
Yanic Bercier (Quo Vadis) - R0xx0rz my s0xx0rz. Dunno if he could pull off power metal but if he can then it'd be amazing

Keyboards:
Atte Tanskanen (Kiuas) - He's solid
Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica) - Awesome

aaaaaand finally

Vocals:
Tobias Sammet (Edguy)
Roy Khan (Kamelot)
Joakim Broden (Sabaton)
Rick Ricci (Krusader)
Lisa Johansson (Draconian)
Micael Andersson (Cloudscape)
Michael Gremio (Cellador)
Alessio Garavello (Power Quest)
ZP Theart (Dragonforce)
Michael Kiske (ex-Helloween) - Give him some money, he'll do it for sure

aaaaaand just for fun:
Pekka Kokko (Kalmah)

Oh and of course everything would be written and directed by Tobias Sammet.

My only real complain with Avantasia was that unless you're a hardcore fan of each of the vocalists, it gets pretty difficult to tell them apart at times and be able to tell who's singing. So I tried to vary up the vocal styles, adding vocalists with really distinct sounds like Roy Khan, Joakim Broden and Michael Gremio.

Anywhos, theres mine. Who would you put in yours?

Kiske is fucking EVERYWHERE! I got this CD by a band called Thalion (Anyone heard of them? Exactly!) and Kiske was on the goddamn thing!

I say use the same line-ups used in the past. Otherwise you wouldn't have an Avantasia album. It'd just be another metal opera.

The instrumentalists I would keep the same (Alex Holzwarth is soooo much better than Rhaposdy allow him to be). My biggest complaints about Avantasia is that Toby hired too many vocalists with similar voices.

So! I'd keep Hansen, Kiske, Del Adel, Defeis, Catley and add in more distincitive voices like Hansi Kursh, Tony Kakko, Marco Heitala, Andi Deris and Roy Khan. And throw in Karl Willets or someone (c'mon, the voice in the tower should have been a death metal vocalist).

Also, giving the other vocalists a bit more too do would be better.

I think you have a good point about using vocalist that have more distinctive voices. Roy Khan would be a definite plus. Adding a death metal vocalist would also be quite kick ass if you used correctly.
