England have produced some fantastic rock/metal bands in the last 40-50 years, that have made world wide stardom. I have a list of 11 which i want you to discuss and place in order of importance to their music genre, influence, popularity, longevity and legacy. And you can more bands in you wish. Here is my list so far in no particular order The Beatles Rolling Stones Iron Maiden Pink Floyd Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin Queen Judas Priest Deep Purple Motorhead Def Leppard My top 5 would probably include The Beatles, Stones, Maiden, Sabbath and Leppelin. 6-10: Queen, Priest, Pink Floyd, Def Leppard and Deep Purple. 11: Motorhead DISCUSS! |

I have no desire to offend thee so I will make a serious comment. I'd place The Who on your list perhaps at the expense of Def Leppard or Deep Purple. Other than that minor quibble your list seems spot on. That is all. |

Quote: #6.Rainbow
i thought about Rainbow, but then realised that the band began in the USA, after Ritchie Blackmore came over from the UK to take over Ronnie James Dio's band, Elf. So with the bands i listed and other people have listed, which of those would make up a top 5 or 10 based on the these factors: Popularity, influence, longevity & legacy? |

Other way 'round. Yeah, four of the five guys on the first album were American, but Ritchie brought them all over to the UK and Dio relocated to there when he got the gig full-time. |

1 Queen 2 Area 54 3 Iron Maiden 4 Skyclad 5 = Black Sabbath 5 = Fairport Convention Well Fairport Convention and Skyclad are hugly influencial in their respective genres of folk. Sabbath, Maiden and Queen, need i explain??? And ok, you got me with Area 54, amazing melodic metal but no one seem to have heard of them. but you should check them out if you can. |
