I don't know if it's being broadcast out of North America, but did anyone else watch the new Rockstar Supernova show tonight? If you don't know what it is, it's this new 'supergroup' (Tommy Lee from Motley Crue, Gilby Clark from Guns n Roses, and Jason Newstead from Metallica) and their search for a singer. Like American Idol but with rock instead of wussy music. I expected it to be a pretty wimpy show but it was actually not bad at all. One of the girls on the show would make an awesome frontman for a metal band.

I wanted to check this out, didn't realize it was on tonight. As lame as it is, I have found American Idol to be entertaining simply because it has to do with music, so I'm sure I'd like this one to some extent.

I agree. This was very entertaining. Im sure the bands material will not live up to the "hype" once it is produced, but some of the vocal abilities of many of the different people was outstanding and unique. I found the show to be one of the best things on Major Television. I thoroughly enjoyed it! :)

I suggest this to any rock/metalhead. Please check out the program it is a lot of fun and you get some unique renditions on some classic songs.

I saw the last 40 minutes of the episode tonight. I checked up online, too. I like how the people vying for the job seem to mostly have musical experience, they play, have toured and recorded music, released CDs, etc. Unlike American Idol where most of them have been nothing more than people that can sing, you know?

I'm interested in the end product. Gilby and Jason haven't really gone mainstream with any of their work after Guns N Roses and Metallica, so they may actually attempt to do some serious music. Of course, with it being called the Tommy Lee Band or whatever, who knows. It could be a dub album left up to him.

You can watch episodes online, too: http://rockstar.msn.com

How many of those chicks do you think will impale themselves on Tommy's mighty pork sword?
