I was watching MTV the other day with my brother who happens to be a massive hip hop rap fan (and so goes all my cousins, leaving me the only person who continues my uncles tradition of being rockers/metalheads).

What caught my attention was simply baffling. It was a Missy Elliot video, 'Hotel' if I'm not mistaken the title, or maybe something else. She was doing her rap and dance thingy but that's not the reason. Her backup dancers all wore corpse paint. Not as extreme as any black metal band, but as good as KISS. And there was this black kid who had his face painted something similar to Paul Stanley's pattern. But as for the other dancers, some were pretty good, no grotesques ones though.

Hmm, Missy Elliot was never really part of the second wave black metal scene. I remember when she did some MCing over the earlier Bathory albums, though. She was really the first to start using corpse paint in that kind of way, and the guys like Dead were definitely following on from where she left off. In recent years she does seem to be going back to her roots a little bit. In fact I think she produced a lot of the dark-ambient LLN stuff, and directed a few Moevot videos.

NP: Brenoritzvrezorkre feat: Missy Elliot- huslld epakknngHOLLA!opdokopfschmerz.

Hellraiser brings up an interesting point though.

It is only a matter of time before we start to see an entirely new genre of metal cropping up...

Black Black Metal

...the blackest metal of all!

Why not? They're black and they play black metal.

Caller of the Storms, the guitar player from Blasphemy, is also black.

Blasphemy owns you all.

For the record, though I'm not a fan at all, Missy Elliot is extremely talented for a hip hop artist.

And I'd not hit it.

After the huge wave of false BM in the 90's, i think not.

But what has Mystifier got to do with lame BM?

The most Metal hip hop video I've seen was the one with a bunch of guys walking down south central with cars bouncing up and down....it was called "Touch of Red" or something....
