I'm back and it was fuckin' amazing.
Here's what I saw:
Saturday:
The Zutons (whole set). Not my type but it was nice. I want to fuck the sax player; she's sooo cute.
Animal Collective (whole set). Fuckin' awesome! They opened with my favorite song (Banshee Beat) and just fuckin' destroyed. They improvised a lot and many people couldn't do anything but leave the stage with a confused look on their face. One of the best Coachella acts.
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (2 songs). Wasn't a fan, still not a fan. Pretty "meh".
My Morning Jacket (2 songs). Pretty good. They play tight and with feeling.
Deerhoof (2 songs). They really rocked. Lots of energy and great stuff. I wish I had seen 6 songs by them instead of sharing time with MMJ and CYHSY.
Kanye West (half set). I did this because after him Sigur Rós was playing in the main stage. I guess that if you like rap/hip hop he was pretty cool. He worked the crowd and played some funny retro music. Not my thing though.
Sigur Rós (whole set). One word: AMAZING. They opened with Glósóli and it was killer. I almost cry, I swear. They brought 4 violins, a chello, and some guys with trumpets, etc... They played while the sun was setting and it was absolutely beautiful. Best show of Saturday hands down.
Devendra Banhart (20 mins.). I ruched from Sigur Rós to catch half of his set (he started playing halfway through Sigur Rós) and it was quite cool. The guy is really fun to watch and I really enjoy his music.
Eagles of Death Metal (20 mins.). They were cool. I sat down and had dinner while watching them. Fun stuff, not amazing, but fun.
Franz Ferdinand (20 min.) Not a fan but they rocked hard. Nice to watch while I waited for Depeche Mode.
Depeche Mode (whole set). Nice greatest hits set. I think some songs lacked energy, but it was pretty cool. Great stage show with lots of screens and stuff. I hate them for not playing "Policy of Trith ", though.
Daft Punk (30 mins.). They fuckin' destroyed. I have never seen an electronica show in my whole life that turned me on like this one. I danced like a fuckin' dance-whore on E for the whole 30 mins. Really fuckin' amazing.
Sunday:
The Deers (whole set). Nice, I guess. I just sat on the tent watching and enjoying 'em. I like how their keyboards added atmosphere. Lazy and enjoyable.
Ted Leo (2 songs). OK, I guess. Nothing special, but nice. Laughed when he stared to complain about the heat and why James Blunt had a tent and he was playing outdoors.
Magic Numbers (2 songs). Gay, gay, gay, gay, awful and totally fuckin' gay. I don't know WTF they were doing at the main stage.
Metric (whole set). I only knew one song and OMG how do they rock. A total surprise. That girl just fuckin' rocks! The band played really tight and the sound was very nice, even if that stage was having technical difficulties. I ran to buy their album that same day.
Wolf Parade (whole set). I absolutely love this guys and they didn't let me down. Even if they were totally drunk and with thechnical problems they delivered an amazing show. I destroyed my throat singing out loud to all their songs and the closer "I'll belive In Anything" was one of the top 3 highlights of Coachella for me. Killer, just totally killer.
stellastarr* (whole set). Very nice. They play really good live and "My Coco" live just rocks.
Editors (whole set). Another amazing surprise. I thought they only were second rate Interpol rip offs, but it turns out they killer Interpol rip offs... well not really, they have a somewhat orignal sound and the band's sound was one of the best at Coachella. Also bought their album. They played at the same time as Madonna and the vocalist was like: "Shhhhhhhhh let me hear Madonna" And everyone just started boooing. Good times, excellent performance.
Coheed & Cambria (whole set). The perormance was superb but the sound was a bit fucked. The voice got burried under the music and at some point it was really saturated. But I'm really happy I got to see them live (I was in the second line). They opened with In Keeping Secrets and I just went berzerk. Also they closed with The Final Cut and they played these killer solos where Claudio even played with his teeth, with the guitar on back of his head and with a violin bow. Really cool.
Massive Attack (2 songs). Co & Ca was supposed to end earlier, so I missed almost all of MA's set, which really pissed me off. Specially because they had Cocteau Twins' Liz doing vocals for the show. Fuckin' 'ell...
Tool (whole set). Fuckin' killer. The band sounds even better than on CD live. They played flwlessly and with passion. Some new (killer songs) and a bunch of classics including: Stinkfist (opener), Lateralus, The Patient, Schism, Forty Six & Two, Sober and Aenima (closer). Amazing performance.
