Does anyone know of any metal bands in spanish? Since Spanish is my native language I tend to understand the lyrics better, and I feel more emotionally attached to the music, as crazy as that may sound. Red Wine. I reviewed their Cenizas album before at another site, 65/100. Here's the review: Well, this was a strange CD to sit through. Red Wine is a Spanish power metal band and unlike many bands from non-English-speaking countries, Red Wine has opted to sing in their native tongue. A respectable choice, but one that makes it difficult for those of us who do not understand Spanish to enjoy the album completely, leaving the lyrical side of the album a chore to sit through and follow. Unfortunately that’s not the only problem here. Cenizas is Red Wine’s fourth full-length album, releasing an album a year since 2001’s Hijos Del Despertar. The music is a typical form of power metal we’ve all heard by a multitude of other bands from every corner of the world, but let it be known that this band is on top of their game musically. Still, the songs are rather mediocre, but could be better if the vocalist was not so mind-piercingly annoying. Mario Suarez’s vocals aren’t necessarily bad in a skill sense, but his tone just rips through my brain like a buzz saw leaking rubbing alcohol. Of course, my ears might just be too sensitive when it comes to his stab-your-brainstem frequency. You may like it, though, if you’re looking for a low carb King Diamond. All opinions on the vocals aside, in the end with better vocals you would still have a mediocre album by a band playing a style of music a million other bands are playing and playing a lot better. It is a decent album and it has its moments musically, but falls quite a distance short of being anything spectacular. I would suggest you give this band a shot—because every band deserves that regardless of what a reviewer says—but check them out before investing money in their music. Tierra Santa is quite good. Danny here at metalreviews called them "spanish Iron Maiden" and that's a pretty good description. Not as good as Maiden, of course, but solid heavy metal. |

There was a thread a while back about flamenco metal, some good stuff in there. And there's always Breed 77 and Ill Nino to fall back on. Although the latter is shite and the first are approaching it. |

Didn't some of the guys in Fear Factory have a spanish-language side-project called Brujaria or something like that? It was pretty brutal from what I remember, though it didn't use any of the samples or electronics that FF usually use. |

My recomendation is that you download some songs with emule, to give them a try. |

Besides Tu Carne, is there any more of this stuff that leans towards the Death/Black/Thrash/Grindcore side? Most of the vocals are high pitched and clean, which are sexy, don't get me wrong, but they cut through my ear drums like a heated wire through styrofoam (read: Very Easily). And once again, thanks for all the suggestions. I've checked out some of the samples and are now in the process of aqcuiring some of these albums. |

ElTipo, good to see you taking note of all these suggestions. I generally try and avoid these as most people that ask never reply again. It almost seems pointless. But anyway, good to see that you care!
I should note that the MP3 I linked for Red Wine sounds much better than anything on Cenizas, the only album I've heard by them. |
