...over at the forums of Hellride Music. I've been buying from that website for a long time now, been checking the board out for a while, too. I saw mention of Witch and some people were slagging off The Sword in that thread so I did a search for The Sword. I found this thread that was far too long for such a band, and as I read through I saw no mention of this band having released a demo, just a bunch of comments about them being a commercial/corporate product as if they were a pop band.

So I simply pointed out that they did have a demo that came out in 2004 and they've been around since 2003, I then posted the review I did on the demo and holy shit...all of a sudden I was one man against an army of elitist assholes! I mean, it's even gotten to the point where I'm being threatened by the owner of Miskatonic, he's also talked shit about Dee and Metal Reviews. Dee is not liked because he gave Solstice a score in the 60's! Hahaha. Here are some choice quotes:

also I'm afraid they're RIGHT about corporate backed bands. I stand by my solstice review, but whatever, it's natural to be suspicious of "manufactured bands" dude.

Well, they are right about that, but that's not the point I was trying to make. It's speculation on their part. It doesn't mean the music isn't good, and surely just by liking The Sword doesn't mean someone should be attacked in such a manner right out the gates. Hahaha.

Yes. Well, it started because of my positive review of The Sword demo, that went against the grain. Then because I had mentioned that I reviewed it here some chose to visit the site and then the negative comments about the site and Dee started.

By that comment it seems like this MISKATONIC guy—who created an account to talk shit to me, 9 posts all directing e-hate towards me—is a member of Solstice. That would explain the anger over the score of the album. It's not in the fanboy realm. What's even funnier is that I was intending on buying that Desolation Angels box set from Miskatonic, but apparently I've been blacklisted! Who does that? This guy won't sell me something because I like The Sword? :shock:

I actually like the site, though. There's a lot of good music discussed there, but obviously anything even remotely mainstream is going to garner these sorts of replies.

Theres some hostile people on that board! I don't understand when people are so conservative about their tast in music, as far as i can see metal has been evoloving and moving forward since it was concieved. If you refuse to give a new type of metal a fair chance you may well be missing out on some truly awesome bands. But i try telling that to some of the guys on that thread!! haha!

I suggest the following: Amaran, Octavia Sperati, Operatika, Heaven Falls and Hamka. Not a single mainstream band, not even close and what response do I get?

I think they did say it wasn't metal, but the simple fact that someone else could mention those bands and the metal bands I mentioned got criticized made me laugh. I mean, this really started because I made a positive comment about The Sword. There was no build up where I steadily annoyed people more and more, this was right out the gate hatred after one comment. Hahaha.

It's most likely a bunch of roadies defending their way of life. :roll:
