Hey all, I was just wondering, when you're not jamming to some good ol metal, are they any nice quiet melodic artists that you all like to listen to? I was searching my playlist and realized that it's getting really metal heavy. Not that that's a bad thing, but I thought I'd try and find some more melodic stuff that hopefully still has the air of awesomeness that metal has. |

SONG Get that. Appears to be pretty accessible for metalheads, there is a full album available for download here, in case you want more. |

Antimatter, new Ulver, Earth (the drone-doom band, not the precursor to Black Sabbath), Otyg, Karl Sander's solo album, and, if you can find them, Viikate, especially "Unholan Urut." |

all prog rock, although aside from pink floyd it's not easy listening by any means. just one more pink floyd sucks comment for you all. national health and magma are my favourites at the moment, along with king crimson, obviously. |

Well, friends have mentioned some good bands but I'm just going to add some more: Agalloch, Drudkh and Dark Ages. And do not forget Classical music. |

Old stuff. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bob Dylan, The Doors, ZZ Top, The Zep, that kind of thing. Edit: Well, ZZ Top depends, I suppose. |

My suggestions are Bob Catley, Magnum, Journey, Rush. But there's a good list of melodic stuff in the previous posts. |

In rebuttal to Lizardtail I humbly submit Pink Floyd, but agree with him on progrock. Several good suggestions have been made, I'll throw in Swans, Depeche Mode, the Cure, Sonic Youth, and although it is a stretch for some, darkwave such as Current 93, Death In June etc. |
