A.D.D. (At Death's Door) -Story: I liked this acronym for a very long time. Checked Metal-Archives.com and no band has it, yet. Amazingly. A.D.H.D. (A Decaying Heaven Dies/Desecrated/Decimated?) -Story: My bandmate, in all his moronic infamy, shot down A.D.D. What a retard. Well, it's my project as equally as it is his, so I said I had an ace up my sleeve that he'd better consider. This was it. He demands some Satanic mystical side, and I get my acronym. Also not taken, yet. Vader Ur -Story: I could give a shit if "Vader" is already taken. I would take the name Cryptopsy if I felt strongly enough about it... Anyway, in Olde English, which is Germanic, the opening words of the Lord's Prayer are "Fader Ur." Our Father. The language evolved, and split off into seperate dialects... "Father" turned into many things, one of them being "Vader." What does Vader mean today? Invader? Oppressor? I loosely tie it in with bad things, so I just decided the cryptic meaning behind it would be "Our Father, Our Destroyer" or "Our Father, The Destroyer." Refinement in Torment -Story: My bandmate, who isn't very booksmart... or smart at all, said, "Let's be Purity through Refinement." I was like, "shuttup." Then, he said it like it's written above, and we liked it as a possibility. Suggestions? |

A Decaying Heaven dies ain't bad. Fader Ur... also sounds nice, Vader has been overused. Fader Ur... with the three dots in the end is my final suggestion. |

This is probably the best of the suggestions, but I'd suggest dropping the last word ie "A Decaying Heaven." Like in Preacher. ![]() |

I think you should hit the drawing board again. I don't think any of them are good. They're not creative enough, they don't elicit anything visual. |

Nah, I like what we have, then again, if someone suggested something I loved, how could I argue? Where's your que? Right there! |

I don't want to say they're generic, but that may be a good word (though far less insulting as it comes off). Post some band lyrics for us. |

Actually I've always thought Vader still just meant father. I like At Death's Door the best. ADHD may be a nice acronym, but takes too long to say otherwise. But that's my only complaint with that one. I know you don't care that Vader is taken, but every time you talk to anyone ever they will bring it up, and it'll probably get pretty annoying eventually. But I guess that's the biggest problem I've got with that one, I like the symbolism and stuff you've got going there. The last one sounds like you're being boastful of something to me. Everyone else might disagree, "oh, it's just a band name," but to me it sounds more like an album title or something that you worked really hard to achieve rather than the body that acheived said something. |

Maybe you can try something in latin as latin is a pretty cool language. For example, our father in Latin is Pater Noster. Also, Refinement in Torment for me implies that you've refined torment in some way, making your music seem like it will torment me. Names are difficult, aren't they? Or you could take the easy road and use this format: Dragon (insert word). Dragonbeam, Dragonwind, Dragonwood, Dragonburst. Oh well, good luck. |

I like At Death's Door. A Decaying Heaven Dies sounds like one of those crappy metalcore band names. |

Refined torment in the tourture chamber sense. We perfected it. It perfected us. It's indeed silly, but we like that one equally to the rest. |

Acronym.. ARRRG!! I said synonym, I'm such a fool. Anyway, I like A.D.D. the best as well. But, if we ever went with A.D.H.D., we would refer to it as "Aye-Dee-Ache-Dee." And this is the second time someone mentioned something to that effect about that Refinement in Torment name... So, that seems to makes sense. |

Well what kind of project is it first of all? I would stay well away from anything that uses the word "dies." Especially if this project is musical, simply because there are already a ton of bands who already have some sort of death word in their names. As I lay Dying It Dies Today If Hope Dies As Hope Dies Summer Dying Evil Never Dies As Winter Dies And that's just off the top of my head. Tell us more about the project then it will be easier to think of a name. |

Post some band lyrics for us. Okay. The story behind these lyrics are: I posted them in round 1 of the last tourney, lost, but still love them. However, I editted them some, because I believed they could still be better. And now they are lyrics. I'll post more if anyone wants more... Song name: Knowledge Would you wait like me? he asked And though the moment lingered I could not quake, spill or banter Though I tremble to carry what he gave The thing I desired most, Now past unto me A fate not desired by man! Blasphemer! Candles, dim now, they flickered Then faltered, and then He was gone, My newfound master Wretched and past A flicker, but not brief His passing, punishment I saw the master's face In the lightest moment of the candle A gruesome death molested his demeanor Into a FOREVER SHRIEK! 1000 years decayed in a moment, and yet This was relief His candles died, Mountain side I wanted to be him, Wished I could be him But I was alone. His teachings I must share Rigors I'd bore finding he, NOTHING compared This journey I'd bear once more His fate would be mine too. |

Arthur wrote: And that's just off the top of my head. Tell us more about the project then it will be easier to think of a name. Technical Death/w a tint of black. Slight jazz influence. If I do double duty as guitarist AND vocalist, then I'm influenced by Varg/Lord Worm, but I also have my own very original twist! Love 'em or hate lyrics! We are continuing to experiment, and are finding more ways to make it our own. No song is final. Also, we need either a permanent drummer, or a drum machine, because that aspect is desolate. |

Diabolical Twilight, Sabbath's Dawn, The Forest of Might, Nature's Will. And then I saw that you have said it's a Technical Death/ tint of Black, and these names do not really fit in. I think the first two should be fine. ...Of Grey Stones? And IMHO, Wisdom is a better name for your song title. |

I don't like acronyms in band names... And I think you have to avoid the death/dies word... Vader Ur is so similar to Vader., yeah, you saud it doesn't matter, but I think it matters. And Refinement in Torment ... I don't like it, too. 1000 years decaying is a really good name. I agree with Eyesore. And my sugestion, a combination of some of the ideas of the thread and names: Our father decaying. |

This suggestion is best. Fader ur would be a cool name. |
