Post subject: Enough with the 'Cookie Monster' comments already

I mean really. A nice review of a High on Fire show (who don't even do CM vocals) and all some troll can say is this (first comment at bottom):

Quote:
it's an old joke, yes, just like 'indie-rock', but just how was it that Cookie Monster became the most influential vocalist from the Seventies? Surely these kids grew up with "Jesus Christ Superstar" in their homes, couldn't they have soaked up some Ian Gillian? Or AT LEAST Murray Head? Shit, they must of had the movie version soundtrack, right next to
"C is for Cookie" and "Grover sings the blues."

to answer the question "Is Metal the New Indie-Rock?".... YES. Meaning it's the new thing to avoid, along with "Free-
Folk", "Neo-Prog" and any other a hyphenated 'genre'.

Complaining about 'Cookie Monster' vocals is about as lame and unoriginal as you can get. That has got to be at the top of the list of 'things to say to piss off a metal fan'

Someone should really login there and say something intelligent to make this guy look like an ass.

The people that write reviews like this are the people that do a disservice the music in general. They're likely just interested in the free CDs and never take the time to edit out the spelling/grammatical errors and they continuously make blatant mistakes in their reviews, take personal jabs at band members and general make comments indicative of someone who listened to the first 30 seconds of each song before reviewing it...in 7 sentences.

I thought the review was all right! I was talking about the idiot who posted a comment at the bottom of it.

Oh...haha...apparently I didn't pay attention. Thought this was part of a review. So, just take my rant and apply it to shitty reviews.

Yeah, to me seeing "cookie monster vocals" says one thing about whoever wrote it, "I'm an idiot and I don't deserve to express my opinion on music".

Ok, I posted a comment (though I fear it will never show up since it has to be screened by a mod). I tried to be civil, but it becomes difficult when you're dealing with a certifiable dipshit.

Well it depends. If you take a band, say, like Bolt Thrower whose vocals are a constant "Brrr brrr brr brr brrr" on every track I can see how it gets its cookie monster label. Yet if you take Trail of Tears or Tristania where the growls are downright vicious, that is something different.
