I voted for U.S.A cause they have 4 of my favorite bands:
Death, Cynic, Atheist and Nile.
Although Canada the house of technical death also comes very close...

I'd have put the Americas together, since "Europe" is a pretty wide option.

My embarrassing problem is that I can't remember who's from Canada and who's from the US...

oh yeah.. I pondered doing a doom version of this but it'd come down to England vs USA vs Finland vs everywhere else, and unfortunately the Finnish bands are not as recognisable even if they do deserve to win

Europe. I always preferred stuff like early Entombed to the Amercan scene, despite how brilliant a few of the bands from there are. Sweden gets my vote, despite melodeath.

Europe wins but it would be much tighter if you divided it up further: ie Have Scandinavia as a seperate option. I can't see S.A. and Canada rivalling the other two though.

this is a good question, heehee.. this would be an easier choice if Gorguts and Martyr were from the US rather than Canada - and I guess !T.O.O.H.! are czechs? I'll vote for the US irrespectively, hard to argue with, well, Death. the three good options do seem to be balanced with good tech-death bands, which is basically all I care about in death metal.. =P

Lemme see. My fav death metal bands are Immolation - US, Sinister(with Eric) - Sweden, God Dethroned - Netherlands and Carcass - UK, so Europe wins Apart from that, most of the time when a DM band grabs my interest, they turn out to be from Europe.

Seriously,Obituary,Morbid Angel,Death,Cannibal Corpse,Deicide,Suffocation,Immolation,Atheist,Possesed are american,so what the fuck?Europe(England)already invented heavy metal in the 70s,so it can rest on its laurels!
