Post subject: A New Side To Travis Smith: Branching Out?

What do you guys think of some of his latest work? In the past you could almost be certain that Travis worked on something, but lately some of his work is completely different. I love it. Some examples:

I think those are sketches/paintings rather than the actual cover art he does; the main difference between them and his 'actual' work is that they aren't photoshoped heavily.

I really like that plant though

I like them; they remind me of Don Herzfeldt's stuff in atmosphere and feel. They strike me as self-indulgent, but in the same way that I'm self-indulgent sometimes, so I can't really criticize.

Reminds me of Tim Burton, which is never a good thing. Ooooh look at me I've got issues.

A bit too emo. They'd be great for the next Used album. So, this is what he does now Blink 182 have split up. :)

Here's a new one by Travis:

Excellent stuff. I have one CD, Forgiving Eden, by the band and when I found it at the used shop I was not expecting an instrumental prog-rock jazz band!! Not usually my thing, but I occasionally find myself listening to it when I'm in the mood for something a little different.

Anyway, check out this track:

NOW THAT MY HOUSE HAS BURNED DOWN, I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL VIEW OF THE MOON

It's nice to see Trav do something different, something outside the metal world. These guys below: NOT METAL!

Haha they're like the stereotypical geeky prog band

I got Jasun Tipton's solo album and it had a picture of a pretty girl on it

Yeah, I picked it up last week for $6. Two things surprised me. First, I didn't know it came out in 2005. For some reason I thought it was much older. And two, I had no idea Travis did the layout. Weird.

Good CD, but not something I'll listen to much.

I've been falling asleep to it or Port-Royale's Flares ever since I got it (i mean that they're relaxing, not boring :P )

Indeed it is. I generally go for some Dead Can Dance, or Lisa Gerrard when I want something a bit soothing.

Her voice sends scares me because of what she can do with it rather than soothing me :(

Ah...gotcha. I can't listen to anything when sleeping, it keeps me awake, but DCD and Lisa do relax me.
