Abstract and rogue. Rarely a Davis album. And that's because he has only directed the musicians, but they have had their own unique freedom in creating this recording. I cannot genuinely say that I enjoy this album, in particular, but I will play it a few times more. Never a deficient recording, by any means, just greatly avant-garde, and a little-too-free. All the risks of too much liberty. Very imaginative, but somewhere very foreign, strange, and bewildering.

Well, I'll say that this recording sounds much better when listened to, on a full stomach, or rather, when moods are better, or when, one is having a better day. And very raw, abrasive, and very disorienting, and otherwise, I may add, quite the contrary, when an ideal setting is not met. Suffice to say, that one must be resourceful, and very wisely selective, when choosing to play this darkly beast. Think of Blut Aus Nord, The Work Which Transforms God.

A landmark recording.

Restraint with the development of ideas, yet remaining solid at the core, while maintaining outer flexibility. Sagely.

Alluring and seductive. Grant Green is big feet to fill. With his easy grace, his effortless eloquence, and his humble but great untiring and fluent wisdom.

This recording is unlike anything else I have in my entire life of listening to music. Pat Metheny may come close to him, but not by a whole lot. Simply other-worldly, in the complete sense of the word.

Has been a significant amount of time. Eternal and immortal.

First time in the longest time possible. Meaning, I do not remember much from it at all, other than knowing that's a classic work in the jazz repetoire.

First time. But it's Shorter. One of my favourite saxophonists.

First time in a very long time. This recording will be different in tonality and melody-making, in comparison to the last two recordings, which I have been playing in the last several hours. Still very much a Mr. Shorter album.

A Shorter offering. Very different characteristics revealed through the man's musical muses. I am not sure I like them all the same, but they do definitely have many musical merits which are equally worthwhile of the attentive listener's genuine listening sensibilities. A very diverse jazz giant, whom only just passed away, last year.

A very charming work.

And the times of abstinence make the heart grow fonder. Perhaps.

A title that could not have been more apt to the nature of the music found inside.
