Hadn't listened to this one before until now. Appreciated the additional insight gleaned into Time Out!

Indeed. Brubeck personified West Coast jazz with little to no effort at all. Must read on Hassell.

After reading just a few lines on Hassell he seems most eclectic and most sophisticated. Delightful! Thank you. Must make my entry into him sometime in next little while. Sometime after the New Year. Many thanks.

From Classical Sunday. An old favorite.

I must tell you Joshua, that you have a very electric and a very unique taste in music. I love Dvorak but I had never heard of the conductor and had not seen that particular cover. Thanks for sharing, buddy.

Smetana--Moldau is a favorite of mine too. Will have start adding some classical favorites here too.

One of the first classical cds I bought, Liszt's piano Concerto #2 is by far the classical composition I've heard the most. Still partial to this Jando pianist, Andras Ligeti conduction of Budapest's orchestra version, there are some good versions online. I like this one.

A transcendent piece, inextricably linked in my mind to the masterful film that featured it.

"The adagio will tear your heart out." Indeed.

I am very pleasantly surprised. You two have very cultivated taste in the canon of Western classical tradition. Schubert's quartets and his solo piano are some of my favourites, ever, most specially his string works are truly sublime, especially that recording which you are playing. Must rekindle my liking for Liszt. Always loved him, but do not have any thing of his in my physical library. Did have, but no longer in possession of it.

Stellar live recording. Evans and crew are superb.

I just love a good live jazz recording. A most needed break from all the rigor and the logic of those Germans. Nothing better than Chet sometimes.

I picked this up yesterday with the thought of making an exchange or two with you, North. Knowing you're a fan of Corea Trio and whatnot. I have not heard it yet, and this play will be my first. I am expecting great things.

Edit: I am finding this recording to be subtle and sophistication, but also approachable, and immediately likeable. A trait lacking in many contemporary jazz, I have found, but not this. I would be very tempted to go as far as classifying the music as a very educated and highly advanced rock album, rather than a jazz album. I think you will find much to like on it.

A newly-found favourite. Some of the best classic blues/jazz recordings I have ever heard. Heart and soul personified.

In a state of rest but an active stationariness. A great release to ease into, and to listen to with careful attention to all the clear and distinct melodies and subtle changes in the music. Not the easiest task, but a very rewarding and satisfactory activity, nevertheless. I personally think it produces pure bliss and a release from all the struggles of life and the mind.

North, think of a dodecaphonic Liszt.
