I watched it yesterday. Kind interesting/funny movie. I've never read the book but I thought the movie was alright even though the acting for Varg Vikernes character was pretty bad. Anyone else gonna watch it or seen it already? |

I'll probably go when it's out over here but I'm prepared for a huge amount of cringe. Reviews haven't really been kind, even before you start to consider how a hollywood take on black metal would impact on whatever personal connection you've formed with it over the years. People seem to be focused more on stuff like the guy playing Varg being Jewish than actual artistic impact, as if it's all about trolling him rather than anything else. Not at all expecting a good film, really. |

Most of the original guilty parties have denounced the film as trash but I think Fenriz is just salty that they didn't get Reese Witherspoon to play him like he wanted. |

They should have gone full ridiculous with it. Nicolas Cage in Mandy rather than Keanu in River's Edge, which is the impression I'm getting. |

Watched this the other day. Not a great piece of work, but certainly an entertaining piss take on all the old guard. Fat Varg is a damn revelation. An amazing caricature of metal's most supreme edgelord in all his awkward teenage glory. Listen to this dude's fucking Baby Huey laugh while those dummies are burning down churches and try not to lose it. Impossible I tell you! |
