Listening to the new album mixed/mastered as i type, i cannot find the words to tell you how fucking great this album sounds!!! Mark Lewis nailed it, best production we ever had!!!! Prepare for this release, this album is a classic one.....mark my words!! #nileband #newalbum2019

Crazy how good this consistently good this band has been for 2 decades now. I suppose At the Gate of Sethu was slight misstep, but the other 7 full-lengths are rock solid repeat listens. After being completely devoid of interest in metal for a few months now, I went back to the first band I heard on Napster, way back in 2000. That first exposure to anything more underground than Sepultura's Chaos AD was 'Opening of the Mouth' from Amongst the Catacombs, and despite hating it initially I was compelled to keep listening until I loved it. And 'What Should Not be Unearthed' just won me over again. Karl Sanders understands dynamics and versatility unlike any other songwriter in the death metal genre. Short songs, long songs, fast songs, doom riffs, fast solos, melodic solos. And Nile's vocals are better than most in the genre too.

Not sure if it's related to a new album or not but Obituary have put a new Adult Swim single out, and it's pretty basic but absolutely slaps.

Assume it's a Ten Thousand Ways to Die sort of thing, where it'll be on a new album next year or something. Do like this thrashy intensity they have nowadays, as much as we'd all like a Slowly Rotting resurgence.

that main rhythm from the obituary track is totally stolen from a Six Feet Under song!

Wow, yeah, saw this from other places after I posted that. Good catch!

I know they've shared members, but that's pretty blatant.

I've had a soft spot for Hellfire for a long time, and I like the potential of this direction change. Intrigued.

It is complete! The new album from My Dying Bride! It has taken quite some time to put together but it is now finished and is with Nuclear Blast as I write this. There is no release date as yet but rest assured we will let you know once we find out. This album is a luxurious journey into a realm only MDB know how to create. It has the most lavish production of any of our past offerings and the sound is utterly stunning; aggressive, beautiful and layered with harmonic melancholy like never before. There is beauty here with slender moments of delicate hope enriched with violins and cello and the stunning voice of special guest Lindy-Fay Hella from Wardruna. And there is utter madness and anger with visceral death metal vocals lending a fearful edge to this dramatic opus. You will not be disappointed!! Cheers, Aaron.

Shall we make predictions on how we score this album Goat? I expect to give it around a 75/100.

I'm an optimist, let's say the eighties!

I hope you are right. I'm cautiously optimistic about the Wardruna woman's contributions, since I've been all about the female singers lately.

New Mayhem song out.

I dig it way more than I did Psywar as a pre-release indicator, glad they've moved on from that style. Did like that last album, but the more old-school sort of darkness here is far more effective.

Lots of good music forthcoming!

New Nile song heading the list. Nothing out of the norm for them but solidly written with enough complexity and that backing bell toll is as good as ever. Album is called "Vile Nilotic Rites" and it's out November - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXZvLIN75Fs

New Cattle Decapitation, still with those fantastic and original "clean" vocals, although kind of more of the same as the last few albums, from the sound of it. Still terrific, of course - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QjXtrQKf88

New Cult of Luna, so glad they're not going further down the clean route after Mariner, as good as it was. This has a nicely ominous, doomy feel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMjBfHWrWsQ

New Borknagar, always a pleasure. Vortex sounds great and the new drummer and guitarist are solid additions - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAKWe0DkBsE

New Despised Icon, for when you just have to do some hardcore dancing. Probably the only deathcore band I genuinely, without irony, enjoy still. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsTdkJWvu3A

Good shit. Back to the basics. Will pick this up whens it drops in October.
