New Exumer out now and Abbath's second record out early July!

That first track released from the new Abbath is waaaaay better than the first album. Immortal being revitalised has hopefully given him a kick up the arse, too.

Well I like the artwork. Can they just do a sequel to Damnation? Kinda like Swano did with Crimson 2, just make Damnation 2.

4 years later, it sounds like MDB's 13th full length is nearly finished. https://www.facebook.com/MyDyingBrideOfficial/ Hopefully this comes out in a couple months.

/\ Wonderful news!

Speaking of British metal, The Meads of Asphodel are back this month with a new album, with a wonderfully shit music video to go along with it!

New Nile is recorded! George Kollias reckons it's a good 'un.

Quote:
Listening to the new album mixed/mastered as i type, i cannot find the words to tell you how fucking great this album sounds!!! Mark Lewis nailed it, best production we ever had!!!! Prepare for this release, this album is a classic one.....mark my words!! #nileband #newalbum2019

Also according to this dude on Metal Archives Aaron Stainthorpe from My Dying Bride has been talking about the new album:

Quote:
In the studio report, Stainthorpe describes this album as being catchier and "more commercial", with more mature and concise songwriting to make things "easier on the ears", and while still dark, not "bleak" darkness. He describes the album as "beautiful" and "full of harmonies", and describes the general atmosphere as "melancholic in the way Dead Can Dance are". He says he has dialed down the misery and apocalyptic themes, describing his current approach as more "localized misery". He also says that the band initially attempted to write shorter songs but admits they "failed miserably" at that. The shortest song is 5 minutes, and the rest range from 8 to 10 minutes in length. Aaron doesn't mention if he will be using his death growl again (which he finally unearthed on 'Feel the Misery' after barely touching it for three albums straight), but my expectation based on his word choice is that there will be significantly less (if any at all) on this album.

Not sure my fellow MDB-ers will like the sound of a more commercial-sounding album, but sounds like the atmosphere is present and correct at least...

Borrrrrrrrrrrrrring. But I kinda expected this after Shaun Taylor-Steels left the band permanently due to creative differences in favor of that Paradise Lost/nu-metal drummer. I don't mind that they wanted to make something 'catchier' or even have Aaron never do death metal vocals, but the article they posted on their FB says 'easier to digest'. As good as Feel the Misery was, there were only like 3 good riffs on the whole record, does that mean this one will feature 1 good riff? 34.78% complete part 2? I'll reserve judgement until I hear it, but might be time for ole MDB to hang it up; they had a good run.

Oh well, at least the new Nile should be fun!

 Knew you'd be annoyed at that! Doubt it'll be quite as bad as 34.788% pt II but an album that adventurous and experimental wouldn't be unwelcome. Expecting something closer to the Line of Deathless Kings era really...

That sounds like best case scenario. More likely case scenario is that this 11 minute Sleater-Kinney track homage to Zeppelin and Pearl Jam which I have on in the background will have more riffs than the entire MDB record. Especially when one considers Robertshaw is already gone again, Craighan is the sole guitarist once more.
