Interesting tidbits from Season of Mist release schedule for this year - two Mayhem releases, Septicflesh, Solstafir, Rage Nucleaire... Nice to see new Arkhan, Cannabis Corpse, Ghost Brigade, Blood of Kingu too.

IKR. Wasn't that impressed with the first album, maybe this one will be more interesting...

So I guess a new Drudkh would be the end of the year at the earliest. Oh well, I liked the last Blood of Kingu, cheers.

Underwhelming, but it's growing on me.

Having the vocals so clear in the mix and the lyrics so enunciated isn't usually a good idea for most black metal bands. That said, the instrumentation is pretty good. We'll see if this album has more Wall of Water/Illuminate+Eliminate type pieces soon enough.

Extremely boring. I can't be the only one who's sick and tired of this dissonant black metal trend; it's getting as bad as that never-ending Incantation/Entombed fellatio. Also, lyric videos suck.

I like the pull the trigger lyric, i always say that when i play basketball, even if it is cliche.

Song is pretty good, I mean, it's better than Ordo Ad Chao IMO and Atilla sounds like he's actually trying rather than doing vocals like someone who's never attempted to do vocals and gets a scratch in their throat from the GeT-Go.

I like how it sounds Raw and I like the hi-hat sound and how it's so heavy in the mix.

In fairness to Mayhem, they definitely got in ahead of the trend with Ordo (and the more I listen to this track, the more it sounds like a step away from that, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, much as I loved it). Agree with you about lyric videos though, can this trend go away now please.

Newcomers Hark are sounding good, in non-black metal news. If you dig Baroness etc check this out:

I'm really hoping the new Opeth album will be good. A new Opeth album is always a big deal for me but i didn't really get that into Heritage although i thought it was a good album it didn't really grab me like i hoped/expected it would. It will be interesting to see what score it will get here and what you guys will think of it. Pale Communion was set to be released next month but it been pushed back to august, damn...

I would expect it is highly reviewed and gets a good score, which of course is fine. As for me, I'm not gonna listen to it: I'm done with Opeth until Akerfeldt stops being a hippie.

My reaction to Heritage was "damn fine stuff" but then I only listened to it about five times total. I expect the new one'll have a similar impact on me.

Akerfeldt has always been a hippy, though... And I'm also looking forward to the new album, as an unashamed fan of Harvest. My aim is to write a review so good that you have to listen to it! ;)

Out of all Opeth albums, Blackwater Park has survived the race for being ageless. Watershed got quite a few plays, too. As for Heritage, during my selling of my music library that album was amongst it too and I never bought it back. Never had the desire to do so. However, I have very high hopes for the upcoming album. I am very disappointed that the album has pulled back until August.
