Sorry if this is against the rules, but; Does anyone know of any other metal forums with more obscure extreme metal releases mentioned? I'm trying to up my metal knowledge at the moment and this site just isn't that active and I don't learn a whole lot of new bands that I wouldn't otherwise already encounter doing my metal-archives bullshit I do. |

NWN mentions bands I've never heard of all the time. The rec threads on MA are useful, just avoid talking to any of the faggot usuals. The greatest metal website I've ever seen for searching for black metal is www.zenial.nl You can find tons of early black/death metal bands from Europe that are hardly known in the US as well as a list of their releases. There is no forum though. |

And the voting seems reasonable on first glance; on their top 10 list I wasn't familiar at all with their #2 voted album selection, Vinterland's Welcome My Last Chapter. Anyone here ever heard it? |

The band name rings a bell, but I don't think I've heard it... I don't really visit other forums, but other sites can be interesting - everything from MetalSucks and Angry Metal Guy to No Clean Singing and Invisible Oranges, really. Even RYM lists and Pitchfork can be sources of new bands, although obviously the latter comes with a health warning for some of you! |

metalcrypt is a good source of information on extreme stuff. Kind of elitist in the forums but they do have good taste. |

I've had some great recommendations at metalforum.com but it's currently down for maintenance (good community there as well). Doommantia is a doom specific forum I'm on a little bit as well. I don't know what your knowledge is like though so both sites could be utterly useless for you but those are the only other forums I'm on. |
