Yeah, that Deiphago album was crap. Generic Beherit worship with shitty noise influences throw in, how hacks like that make it big is a testament to how tolerant some of the more vocal black metalheads who enjoy generic black/death metal tolerate mediocrity.
Yep that album was total shit. It was just fucking noise.

Apparently, we all should have been listening to Pallbearer's Sorrow and Extinction because that is on like every Metalsucks' contributors top fifteen and just made NPR's 50 best albums of the year as the only metal contribution, despite releases by Dysrhythmia and Krallice, which NPR tends to give handies to.

I fail to see how a minute of silence can be addicting. This better get better. This is totally doing nothing for me.

Well it's the closing song, maybe it hit me in the right mood after listening to the album in its entirety. But yeah, obviously the song picks up.....it's not just silence the entire time.

I like this Pallbearer song so far (3:30) but I have a feeling awful growling vox are gonna come in soon.

Oh shit, RYM says Traditional Doom Metal

excited

Vox just came in. This sounds an eerie amount like Warning/40 Watt Sun.

Yep, reminded me of 40 watt sun as well. No harsh vocals at all on the entire album.

I never imagined 40 Watt Sun as this throwback-y or retro sounding. Idk if that makes sense, but I kinda imagined them having a more modern sound.

They sound throwback in the Pearl Jam sense. (Not impressed by 40 Watt Sun or Pallbearer, well Pallbearer is ok)

You're definitely right about that. You liking it though?

Decent, not amazing. It maybe could have grown on me, seduced me into loving it, but ultimately it's getting raved about to such a degree that I almost want it to grab me and bend me over with its awesomeness. It doesn't do that.

I forgot I heard this months ago until you guys started talking about it just now and I decided to play it again: solid stuff, nice that this band is getting all this credit, but it isn't really my thing.

Are you sure that you and I aren't the same person? :) Great list!

So the year is coming to a close and it's time for the yearly list. We still have a month and a half so list can be tweaked and rearranged.

My list could be much longer than ten and if your can too please feel free to make a longer list. For the sake of sleep I'm gonna do a list of my top ten and I will add to it tomorrow when I don't have to wake up at 5:30 for work.

1.)Royal Thunder-CVI
2.)Jess and the Ancient Ones-S/T
3.)Woods of Ypres-Grey Skies and Electric Light
4.)Daylight Dies-A Frail Becoming
5.)Orange Goblin-Eulogy For the Damned
6.)Pallbearer-Sorrow and Extinction
7.)Cormorant-Dwellings
8.)Paradise Lost-Tragic Idol
9.)Christian Mistress-Possession
10.)High On Fire-De Vermis Mysteriis

Like I said, this list is incomplete and semi out of order. I will fix and add to it tomorrow.

Also at the end of December we should put our final lists in as our final list.

Thank you and enjoy the making of your list!!!!!
