traptunderice, possibly noodles, Zad somewhat. They have more knowledge of the American stuff than me.

Ah alright, thanks :D

BTW is it weird that I happened to pick a few good albums simply because the art was designed by my favorite artist?

Nah. I think album art attracted a lot of us when we first got into the genre.

The art from that Emperor album I mentioned?

Certainly had no trouble appealing to a gloomy teenager like myself

And in case you didn't know the covers were all designed by H.R. "Yes I made the Alien from Alien" Giger

I think Nickelback's recommendation of more symphonic stuff like Limbonic Art or Anorexia Nervosa will probably be more up your alley.

But in terms of US black metal:

Wolves in the Throne Room: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQ6Atpgp4RA

Panopticon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvxrCvtokZQ

Nachtmystium: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Icn6_sDxG_s

Cobalt: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9X16w1fCXp4

Leviathan: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSLwTDUzHo4

Krallice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tmIBesxRTU

Woe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JJwvdgsUag

Chose some live tracks when possible because it places USBM more in the lineage of classic BM. They have a rawer sound live less produced for some of the flightier bands.

Actually (sorry to perpetuate this slight derailment) if you google Giger's work, you'd swear half of it was just kinky porn with a weird overlay. And what's funnier is he says they're based on his nightmares.

Sorry for the double post but does anyone know any good websites where I can get cheap CDs (other than Amazon and eBay)?

Distro type websites are generally pretty good for that. Of course some stuff will always be pricey because it's hard to get your hands on so you have to bear that in mind.

Hmm it just dawned on me I know pretty much nothing about the metal being produced in my own country. Shame on me I know but hey what can you do. So lets cut to the chase here: can anyone recommend some good Australian metal bands (if it helps I'm predominantly a listener of black, death, doom, folk, traditional/NWOBHM, power, progressive and thrash metal)

I typed a massive list like a year ago. But I'm certain about 30% of those sites are inactive now. Some of the best ones are of course:

Nuclear War Now Productions (mainly black/death metal, but all cds are 5$)

Paragon Records (Free shipping in the US no matter how many albums you order. Lots of different styles from folk metal to obscure black metal titles)

Deathgasm Records (A black/death metal label who are having a sale currently, 5.30$ for an album. Different titles abound

Sentinel Steel Records (Power metal/Heavy metal mainly, but he has a lot of stuff marked down for 6.89$ for used albums but he carries a lot of out of print power metal titles from Euro labels)

Shadow Kingdom Records (Even rarer heavy/thrash/power than Sentinel Steel, shipping is a little steep though like 6 dollars. And a lot of the albums being as they are OOP, some can be rather pricey)

Dark Descent Records (mainly black/death/thrash. But the usual price per album is 8.00$

Hells Headbangers Records (Really the stop and go metal distro for everyone, kinda pricey at times but great stuff can be found there.

I have loads of other black/death labels. Let me know if you need some more.

Never heard that band, but you are asking about the ep. Have you heard their full-length, Cendres Et Sang?

And good call on the reminder for Ruins Zad, I had meant to listen to them before.
