Looking for some excellent Black/Thrash in the veins of Destroyer 666. Melodic/Romantic/Melancholic/Dramatic and of course heavy. Cheers!
Nothing is going to be as good as those guys, but you have Razor of Occam, Absu, Inquisition, Desaster, Bestial Warlust...
These work for you, RO? Maybe not Inquisition.

I recommend someone delete this thread:

http://www.metalreviews.com/phpBB2/view ... hp?t=27036

Yes, it's a bot, but the URL to their shitty spyware-infested website is still there.

And no, I did not click it. Just thought I'd point it out so no one else does.

Feel free to delete this post, too. =)

It's in the profile, and below where the signature would be there's a www button.

They're sneaky like that.

I don't know what I'm listening to at the coffee shop, but it sorta reminds me of the Gosling film, Drive's soundtrack. Did anybody hear that or know what kind of music I'm alluding to? Like glittery 80s europop that's kinda ethereal...

I want more of this kind of stuff in my life. And I basically plan on getting that soundtrack.

Anyone familiar with the band Big Pig from the 80s? Not sure if anyone hear can dig on 80s dance/pop sounds, but this band was brilliant and, sadly, ahead of their time. They were doing things no other band was doing back then.

But they looked the part. Hard to watch that first video without laughing, but if you can get past that, you might dig them.

I'm not big on black metal usually. But lately I've been getting into Wolves in the Throne Room and Naglfar. Always been a big fan of folky black metallish stuff like Agalloch too. Any recommendations there?

And since I'm rapidly becoming a fan of this whole 'blackened thrash' stuff (Aura Noir, Skeletonwitch etc), any other good bands of that ilk?

Witchaven, Sauron and early Sodom (Witching Metal, In The Sign Of Evil) are all quite good.

Absu self-titled. Not quite as thrashy as Skeletonwitch, but you should dig it. And Witchaven is solid so plus one that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Al4ggftGE4

Absu I'm really liking - Witchhaven not as much, dont know why... for some reason black metal I'm really touch and go with - two bands can have pretty much identical style and I won't like one or the other. Thanks anyways - seems like black thrash is the new black these days - ba dum tish

Witchaven is a little raw.

can someone suggest heavy, fast-paced death metal, with nice and polished production and just moderate use of blastbeats?

i was thinking something along the lines of Hour of Penance in songs like 'Sedition Through Scorn' and 'Deprave to Redeem' - great songs on an album where they slow down way too much. on many songs, when the vocals kick in to make it all even heavier, the guitars slow down and a potentially crushing effect is ruined.

Cryptopsy's latest, in some of the thrashier songs, also comes to mind.

i like the heavy riffing, the growls, the double bass, the whole thing just bashing your face in.
