Wow The Haunted over The Crown is a take I don't quite agree with, haha. I never thought about The Crown's songwriting, just know their riffs were excellent for their first five albums or so.
Haha, it's a controversial one, I know. Always enjoyed them more, though I know that's a niche opinion among the metallati!

Yes, I recognize Mr. Liiva. One of my favorite vocalists in the genre of all time! I like that old Arch Enemy reformed as Black Earth and have toured and even made some new material in recent years: a real shame that such an interesting spin on melodic death metal got derailed by Amott falling for Gossow. But on the other hand, AE's songwriting probably gets worse and more pop influenced no matter who the vocalist was. Anyway the melodies on this Hearse song are huge and infectious. Great stuff!
Hearse are genuinely underrated, and I wish they'd do more stuff, but I guess there's only so far you can take it. Still, fun project.

Speaking of great vocalists, can wait to hear this band's new album later this year.
https://youtu.be/W72Lnz1n-jwAh, that is an interesting pick. I listened to this when it was out and liked the melodies (cringe lyrics though!) but didn't like it enough overall to bother reviewing. Apart from certain bands (*cough* Trivium *cough*) the whole deathcore/metalcore thing has aged pretty badly, and the stuff I enjoy from it still is earlier stuff like Botch rather than the bands that still try and push it. But fair play to Whitechapel for trying something different, and that certainly is one of their best songs to date.
And so to a core-y band that you're probably aware of, but I don't remember us discussing (recently, at least) and here's a new song from anyway -
